Windows Phone 7 is a nice platform overall, but in some departments the tendency of Microsoft to act like a strict school headmaster clearly shows. We all know Windows is pretty big on security and privacy, but sometimes this could turn into a nuisance and annoyance for the end users. Lack of features like accessibility to hidden Wi-Fi networks
and MMS issues
somewhat tarnish the WP7 experience. Another such feature that has caused a few raised eyebrows is the ever-present camera shutter sound. No matter what you do, it just refuses to go away (except on a few devices). On most other smartphone, or even feature phone, platforms, the camera shutter sound follows the overall profile of the device. This means that if you put your device into silent mode, the camera will be silenced as well. This is not the case in Windows Phone, unfortunately. Want to get rid of the annoying “click”?
If you opted to go for Motorola Triumph, the 1.0 GHz beauty with a classy 4.1 inch screen, and were waiting for root access on your phone, get ready to get into action! Apparently some folks at XDA tried Gingerbreak – the newest single click rooting method – and it worked without flaw! The phone ships with Android 2.2 Froyo on board which means that gaining root will open possibilities for custom ROMs, kernels and other awesome post-root stuff. According to some testers, the root access is permanent, so you won’t have to hack away stuff on every reboot.
Wow it’s finally here! Yes. Ladies and Gentlemen, Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
is officially on the roll now. Well some of you might not believe, others might think it’s a hoax, but today its nothing but real. Of course if you have had your Xperia X10 around for some time and have been hacking away to release it from SE’s prison, then this update isn’t yet ready for your consumption. By this we mean that if you have root on your phone with extras like custom Recoveries, kernels and other bacon, then you should avoid this update to retain full control of your device. Of course once developers get their hands on this one, they will start merging the changes into their custom ROMs and you will be all set to get the flavor.

Benchmark utilities are written to measure the capability of software and hardware components installed on the system to provide a detailed compatibility and system performance report. Both Windows Vista and Windows 7 have the option to rate PC through build-in Windows Experience Index which actually does the same; it assess the capability of software configuration and hardware components but instead of providing a report on installed software and hardware devices, it shows result as a number, referred to as base score
. Depending on that number, you can infer the overall performance of your PC. But If you’re not satisfied the way it measures your PC performance, you can consider using advance third-party benchmark utilities like Auslogics Benchtown
to evaluate system capability to withstand immense stress and resolve performance-related issues under low resources.
With the variety of different devices available to surf the web, it isn’t enough to have a website that you can view easily from your desktop. Websites not only need to render perfectly in different browsers but also on desktop PCs, tablets and mobile devices. While there are browser extensions available to help you view a webpage in a different resolution they don’t support all sorts of resolutions and many of them just shrink the viewing area as opposed to loading the mobile site. Screenfly
is a free web app that lets you view a website on different screen resolutions; it supports Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple iPad 1 & 2 and Motorola Xoom tablets among others and Apple iPhone 3 & 4, Google Nexus S, LG Optimus S among other mobile screen resolutions. It also supports different size desktop screens and different TV resolutions.
There are certainly endless ways in which server load management techniques can be implemented on network. Before applying any of the techniques, system administrators have to consider the total number of nodes connected in the network, server response time, and in some cases, the rate of data transmission between nodes acting as member servers and main servers. In server-member server-client network architecture, load balancing methodologies can’t be applied unless we know how much data has to pass through routers and what type of response clients are seeking when data send and receive requests are made.
Code reviewing can be an act of simple courtesy from one developer to another or it can turn in to an endless thread of criticisms aimed at proving one’s prowess in developing. Regardless of what intentions lie behind one developer reviewing another developer’s code, there are few easy and well structured ways of doing it. Chop is a web service that lets you share code with anyone and post comments to different parts of it.
