1.7Ghz on a dual core Android device is simply wicked! The Galaxy Note was already a powerhouse, and this jump to a 1.7Ghz
CPU clock is simply insane. The overclock comes in through a custom kernel called AbyssNote, developed by XDA-Developers forum member Chris
X. The kernel also includes a few more tweaks that you can check out at the the forum thread
, but the most amazing feature of this kernel, is the minimum clock dropping to a minor 50Mhz! Imagine the battery being saved.
We saw the awesome Webtop technology from Motorola when the Atrix 4G made its debut. This trend has carried on, and now it’s the Droid Razr that carries this technology as well. While the concept of Webtop and its use is superb for the users, it does come at a certain price. Webtop on the Droid Razr or for that matter the earlier devices, cannot be used till you have those pricey Motorola branded docks. However, thanks to XDA-Developers forum member Fenny
, you can now simply use your HDMI cable to enable Webtop, removing the need for those price docks.

Nexus S, a Google phone, launched by Google itself, was speculated to be the second device after the Galaxy Nexus to receive the ICS update, but that hope has clearly been blown away. Well, what’s done is done. More information after the jump!

If your a tech enthusiast, or in any way familiar to the ongoing technology trends, then you must have known about HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). It is a compact audio/video interface for transmitting digital data, which came into mainstream use especially after the introduction of HD (High-Definition) content. The good thing about HDMI as compared to DVI, is that it transmits and receives both audio and video feeds through one cable, so if you have to connect, say your laptop to an LCD/PLASMA TV or any video display with built-in speakers, you don’t need separate audio and video leads. HDMI is now found in quite a lot of devices and same is the case in computers. However, the problem lies in the way Windows 7 handles the switch between default and HDMI audio output device. You have to go to Windows Control Panel, open Sound settings and select the HDMI audio as Default Device to enable your LCD’s speakers. Doing all that can be a bit annoying for a person who switches between different monitors a lot. If you needed quicker way to do this job then you can use Win7AudioSwitcher
, which automates this process. Continue reading to find out how.

Android devices can be rooted, and iOS gets jailbroken, but what about Windows Phone 7? The equivalent of rooting and jailbreak for WP7 is known as developer unlock. You might own a device that has really been unlocked by Microsoft because you are a developer, or have employed one of the other ways of unlocking a WP7
. But after Mango, even if you have a developer unlocked WP7 device, you still don’t get root access on it. That is because of the introduction of a new unlock privilege level named interop unlock. If you don’t have interop unlock, some XAP files might not run on your device, and there are other restrictions as well. Previously, there were hacks that allowed Samsung and LG users to upgrade to interop if they already had a dev unlock. Now, the hack is almost universal. Recently, an exploit for HTC devices was discovered as well. Read on to find out how you can get your developer unlocked HTC WP7 upgraded to interop unlock.
