Keep Track Of Where You Park Your Car With Auto Finder For Android

Finding a parking spot in a big lot can be a headache, but what’s worse is forgetting where you parked your car. East garage? 3rd floor? Spot number 84? It’s not unusual for this to happen after, say, a tiring day at work. Fortunately, there’s an app for almost every problem nowadays and this one is no exception. If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of parking your car in a massive parking lot or a packed area and had trouble finding it later, then give Auto Finder a shot; a simple but functional app for Android that lets you mark your location whenever you leave your car. In fact, the app can also be set to do this job on its own whenever it detects you’re leaving your car via sensors such as Bluetooth.

There are two main components that drive Auto Finder: Google Maps API and your device’s GPS sensor. It runs in the background, detecting your precise location via your phone or tablet’s GPS. It uses this info to figure out when you’re moving in a car, whether it’s your own or someone else’s, though I couldn’t test the latter on my own. When you stop and park, it automatically marks that position for you.

You can also link a Bluetooth device in your car – like the stereo – with your phone or tablet so that as soon as you’re out of its range, the app knows for sure you’ve left your car.

The interface is quite simple. You’re presented with your current location and the location of your car on a map along with a few buttons at the bottom that let you switch map terrain,  launch Google Maps, get directions back to your current parking spot, and access history. The history section carries a complete record of all your previously saved locations or those detected by Auto Finder itself. If you want to manually specify a location, the app gives you longitude and latitude coordinates, and lets you add additional notes. You can, of course, mark multiple locations and access any of it later on.

The Settings screen of Auto Finder is divided into two sub-section labeled ‘Display’ and ‘Location’. In Display, you can toggle app notifications for errors such as when a spot isn’t found, specify default map type, and select your preferred distance unit. Location lets you toggle WiFi for location detection and select your default Bluetooth device.
