When we come across interesting stories, we tend to share them with people who matter to us. And if we lack time, we save them to read later. Different services fulfil needs in a different way, and this is why you will find hundreds of services out there. You will find different sets of people across different services, such as, social networks, bookmarking, blogging, and social new sites. Shareaholic is an extension for Google Chrome that helps you share articles from within your browser anywhere. I have been using Shareaholic add-on for Firefox and bookmark for Safari, but the extension for Google Chrome clearly stands out.
Shareholic includes literally every popular service you know of; they are divided into Social Networking, Email, URL Shorteners, Bookmarking, Blogging, Social News, and Instant Messaging. If you want to share stories with people you know in your life, you can post them to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yammer, etc, or email them. If you want to save them as bookmarks (public or private), there is always Google Bookmarks, Evernote, Delicious, and StumbleUpon. There are tons of other services you can share to, such as, WordPress blog, Tumblr, Instapaper, Springpag, Pinterest, Quora, et al.
The best part of Shareholic is that it brings all these services together, thus allowing you to share anywhere from within your browser. It also comes with its own web service where you can check the history of all your shared articles, which can be made both private and public.
Configuring the extension is super easy; since it supports plenty of services, you can customize to choose which services you want listed. It is impossible to use every service, so you can select the ones you use and they will be listed when you click the Extension icon next to the address bar.
The cool part is that it automatically shortens the URL of the web page and provides link at the bottom of the Shareaholic pop-out menu for quick sharing.
