Did you write a comment in a blog post only to see some default picture showing up? Do you want to remove this default picture and add your own picture instead. If yes, then what you need is a Gravatar. It is a globally recognized avatar, quite simply an avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on Gravatar enabled sites. Suppose you comment in any post in this blog, you will see a default image showing up next to your comment.
Suppose you want to replace this default image with your photo(as an example I am using my image).
To do so, you will have to visit the site and register for an account. After you are done, you will have to add your email address that you use in comments by navigating to My Account > Add an Email Address.
After you add your email address you will have to add an image for that email address, for e.g, when I use an email nakodari[at]addictivetips.com, this means that the image I have chosen will display next to my comment, you can assign any image to a specific email address. Check out the comment at the bottom of this post to see what I mean.
To add an image please navigate to My Account > Add an Image.
It will then ask you to upload your image, the options given on my side are shown in the screenshot below.
In my case the image was in my computer, so I selected My computer’s hard drive. In the next window, select your photo and click Next.
Now start cropping your image, after you are done click Crop and Finish! button.
In the next step, it will ask you to rate your image, it is recommended that you upload a G rated image that is suitable for everyone. If you upload an X rated image, your comments might get blocked or get marked as spam in different blogs.
You will see that your latest picture will be assigned to the primary email address automatically. Now try commenting on this post, and you will see your image appearing next to your comments.
If you are getting any problem, feel free to ask in the comments. 🙂
