The average internet user has one email account and uses two social networks, which all mean there’s more than one way to get in touch with someone. Whether you send out a lot of email, got an online resume or showcase your portfolio on a blog, you do it so people can find you and get in touch with you easily. Protocol.By is a web service that lets you tell everyone how to easily get in touch with you; it provides you a link to add, to either your email signature, website, blog etc., that lists all the ways to get in touch with you. You can add an email address, phone number, Twitter account, Facebook profile, Skype name, LinkedIn profile, Fax number, Voicemail or Gtalk ID among other ways to contact you.
To start using the service just login with your Google account, it supports Google App accounts as well. The service gives you a URL based on your username. You can embed it or paste the link to it anywhere you like.
From the list of 13 different ways to get hold of a person, pick out the ones you prefer and create an ordered list of most preferred to least preferred ways of getting in touch with you. Click an option from the list and it will be added to the list of ways of contacting you. Click Click here to add optional information or rules and add whatever information it is you want and click Save. To remove an option click Remove.
Once you’ve added all options and the necessary information to accompany each one, click either the Embed option on the top to get the embed code or click pats of the signature to edit it.You can edit 3 different fields of your choice.
Copy the signature and add it to your email. You can edit it when you add it to your email and supplement it with additional text.
The screenshot below shows how your signature appears if you choose to embed it. When you mouse over it, it expands to reveal the additional information you’ve added.
