Firefox doesn’t tell you how big a file you are about to download; not until you click the Save File button and open the download manager to have a look for yourself. While many sites, the good ones mostly, tell you what the size of any file that you’re downloading is, others don’t and if you happen to click on a download link directly from a search result page then there really is no way for you to know what the file size is unless you start download. Show File Size2 is a Firefox extension that tweaks the download dialog box that opens to show you the size of the file.
The extension installs and works in the background, you won’t know it’s there unless you start a download. File size is mentioned next to the file type. The feature facilitates in finding out the size of a file without having to start downloading it.
