Clipboard managers aren’t hard to find, and they are extremely useful since they let you get a whole lot more out of your default clipboard. Most clipboard managers focus on text snippets and there are few that will allow you to copy images and more. CopyLess is a Mac app worth $4.99 in the Mac App Store that extends your clipboard up to 100 items, lets you copy items in just about every format supported by Mac OS X and filters your snippets by the app they were copied from. Additionally, the app lets you favorite snippets that can be pasted using a custom shortcut, paste the last ten snippets via keyboard shortcut and wipe any text clean of its formatting before pasting it.

Note: CopyLess is a paid app that will set you back $4.99. AddictiveTips is giving away 5 licenses for the app to five lucky readers, details for which can be found at the end of this article.

The app stores items as you copy them to your clipboard (no additional or new shortcuts required) and stores them as per the app they were copied from.

Copied items appear in the app’s main window which you can toggle open/close using the Option+Command+C key combination. To copy an item, use the Copy button at the top. To preview the copied item, click the Quick Look button. The Plain Text button allows you to clean formatting from text.

By default, the app records up to 30 items to the clipboard; to increase it, go to the app’s preferences and adjust the Memory usage slider in the General tab. From the Shortcuts tab, you can manage the shortcuts for toggling the app open/close, for pasting the last ten items to an app and for pasting a clip from your favorites.

Another really great feature that sets this app apart from others is the app filter which lets you select apps that CopyLess should ignore. Understandably, there may be apps that you copy from but not necessarily want to keep a record of in your clipboard like the Finder. You can add apps to ignore from the Filter tab in preferences. Overall, this app is feature rich and smart supporting both image and text copying which few other apps do.
