Tata DOCOMO has unveiled the brand new Alcatel One Touch Net phone for their network, which is also claimed by many as an unofficial Yahoo! phone. The only reason that seems legit enough to qualify this phone as a Yahoo Brand ambassador would be some system-level integration of Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Contacts and other similar Yahoo! apps. Read on for the phone’s specs, photo, and more information.
As you can see in the photo above, the phone does feature Yahoo!’s signature purple colour not just across the default theme of the operating system’s user interface, but also on the phone’s body, around the large buttons. Also, the Yahoo! Messenger icon can be prominently seen right on the phone’s home screen, in the bottom bar amongst other quick launch app icons.
The phone features a full QWERTY keyboard similar to BlackBerry devices that looks pretty handy and may greatly interest those of you who type a lot of text messages and emails etc. from your phones.
There is no official word from Yahoo! on this phone yet, so, we keep our comments reserved at the moment. Here are some key specs of Alcatel OneTouch Net Phone:
- 2.4 Inch QVGA Display
- 4-Row Full QWERTY Keypad
- Bluetooth 2.0
- MicroSD Card Slot
- 2 Megapixel Primary Camera
- FM Radio
- Pre-Loaded with Yahoo Mail, Messenger, Contacts, Social Pulse, Flick, Voice Search
- 3G Connectivity [Rumored]
The phone is not yet available in western markets and we have no idea when that will be possible, if at all. The Alcatel One Touch Net seems to be a text heavy and social savvy individual’s pick, but without Wi-Fi on board, we doubt it would attract many users who rely significantly on internet access. Nevertheless, this spec sheet may change by the time of launch and who knows, they might even decide to include Wi-Fi. On a second note, this phone also reminds us of recently announced LG Town C300.
