It is a tiresome task to type the URL of a website on your smartphone every time you launch the browser. Beyond Browser for Windows Phone 7 seems to have been designed for quick access to your favorite sites. It displays a collection of Quick Links and Popular sites on its homepage along with your bookmarks and browsing History. In addition, the browser allows you to add your own links to the page so that you don’t have to enter their URLs or search for them from within browsing history each tie you launch the app. Beyond Browser also supports screen lock, which is pretty rare for Windows Phone 7 apps.
You get more than fifteen Quick Links of popular websites including Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, eBay, CNN, LinkedIn, Wikipedia etc. To add a Quick Link of your own to this collection, tap the ‘+’ button. While browsing, a quick-access toolbar of sorts appears on the screen with options to pin a link to the start page, bookmark it, enter a URL and return to the homepage. This toolbar can be placed at the bottom or either sides of the screen.
The Popular Sites screen houses 15 categories (News, Finance, Shopping etc) of most-visited web sites. From within the Settings tab (also accessible from the homepage), you can choose the Default Search Engine for the browser, whether you want the aforementioned toolbar to be displayed, or whether the back action of the browser should be mapped to the Back hardware key on your device.
The built-in Quick Links and Popular Sites features of Beyond Browser have such a thorough collection of websites that mostly, you really don’t feel the need to type a websites URL.
