The Chinese gadget scene is notoriously known for device clones and strange news. According to 9to5Mac, The official iPhone and iPad seller plus carrier in Mainland China, China Unicom, is now offering iDevices which are previously jailbroken along with “promised 10 hot apps” plus free cases. The offer seems to be limited to iPhone 4 and iPad 3G.
According to the screenshots posted above, iPhone 4 might be shipped with iOS 4.0 and iPad 3G with OS 3.2.1 by China Unicom (unless dev team comes up with a jailbreak for latest iOS version –Our take). The free case provisioning with iDevices by China Unicom also seems to be a pretty intriguing deal, as according to them, iPhone and iPad casing normally costs 168 and 380 RMB respectively. We understand that US courts have declared jailbreak and rooting legal, but is it legal in China? We also speculate and predict a really interesting reply by Mr. Jobs on this.
