Android users are having a field day yesterday. Twitter for Android isn’t the only official social network client o receive a major update. The official Facebook app for the platform has also been updated to version 1.6.1 with improved Pages integration and the option to Like comments. The new version adds a separate tab for Pages that can be accessed either from within the Friends screen or by hitting the Search button. Said tab provides access to all Pages that you have created or have admin rights to as well as those that you have Liked. You can post as admin on Pages that have you registered as an administrator. More after the break.
The update brings welcome additions to the app but these additions aren’t void of flaws. As of this writing, posts created on Pages can’t be deleted, so get it right the first time if you’re away from your computer. Also oddly enough, the option to Like comments only appears in the News Feed. On Pages, Photos and within your Profile, the comments interface remains unchanged.
The client is still a few steps behind its iOS counterpart. However, updates for the Android variant have been coming in fast and, needless to say, have put it far ahead of where it was only a few months ago. If it keeps on improving at the current rate, it might catch up to its iOS variant well before the end of this year.
