iDevices have become so popular that a sizable fanbase can be found in all parts of the world, and no matter where you live, there are sure to be people with the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch somewhere around you. Due to this globalization of iOS devices, there are many apps and Cydia tweaks that seek to make iOS foreign feel more at home with their devices. Lunar Calendar for Notification Center is one such tweak. It allows you to view the current lunar, zodiac and Chinese dates in the Notification Center of your iOS 5+ device as a separate widget that supports gestures to switch between calendar types.
The Notification Center widget is available in the BigBoss repo as a free download. After you have installed it to your iPhone, there will be no immediate change apparent in the Notification Center. This is owing to the fact that the tweak has to be enabled from the Settings app. There is no separate menu for it in Settings. All you need to do is enable it from within the Notifications section. Once you have done that, swipe the NC down and the new widget will appear, showing the current solar term. Swipe to the right and the current date according to the Chinese calendar will appear. The third option will display the lunar date for the day.
Lunar Calendar for Notification Center is pretty simple in its looks, and the functionality it offers might come in handy for a number of users. As it is absolutely free, it won’t hurt to give it a try.
