View in galleryOur previously featured MIUI ROM is an Android ROM that brings an interface very similar to the iPhone’s iOS to Android devices, and now an English language version of this popular ROM is available for the HTC Desire HD.
As many of you may know already, MIUI is fast becoming one of the most popular custom ROMs available for the Android platform. Started off as a custom ROM for just a few Android phones with an aim to bring vibrant, iPhone-like graphics to Android while keeping all its own features intact, it is getting ported to more and more devices. The original MIUI ROM is built and released in the Chinese language, but enthusiasts from all over the world port it to several languages, making it available to the masses.
This port of the MIUI ROM has been made for the Desire HD by XDA-Developers forum member redox57 and apart from being based on the MIUI ROM, it also utilizes core components of the CyanogenMod 6.1 ROM for the Desire HD, including the boot image and some device-specific files. Usually MIUI ports come with a separate language pack, with the original ROM still in Chinese. This port however, comes with English language integrated in the ROM itself, so there isn’t a need for installing a language pack afterwards separately.
Apart from the interface and apps, the working features include WLAN, Radio, Bluetooth, Proximity Sensor and torch. The ROM also allows you to take screenshots by holding menu and pressing volume down buttons. GPS, ambient light sensor and custom themes haven’t been tested yet while camera is working at 5 megapixels only.
Needless to say, your phone must be rooted and have a custom recovery installed in order to flash any custom ROM like this one. To install this ROM, download it from the link given below and copy it to the root of your SD card. Then reboot your device into recovery, perform a backup to be on the safe side, wipe all data and cache, wipe dalvik cache, and flash it from the zip file. Once flashed, reboot your device and your HTC Desire HD will be up and running with the latest MIUI ROM on board. If you are unfamiliar with the ROM flashing procedure and need more detailed instructions, refer to our guide on how to install a ROM to an Android device from recovery.
