HTC Wildfire S was launched couple of months back as a mid-tier Android phone targeted at users who like it sleek and simple. However the worst part of this phone is that there is no solution, until now, to unlock bootloader or gain S-OFF. Majority of these phones have been shipped with S-ON making it real difficult to flash custom ROMs or kernels. However there are a lucky few who have managed to get HTC Wildfire S with factory unlocked S-OFF status. And if you are one of those lucky few who already have S-OFF on your device, then there is some great news for you. Alquesz, Senior XDA Member, has recently released a fixed version of unofficial ClockworkMod Recovery for the device. The earlier, work-in-progress, versions of this recovery usually came with a color glitch. All of that has been fixed and now all you need is a S-OFF Wildfire S to flash this custom recovery.
Here is what the developer has to say about this reelase:
I’m very happy to report, that known issues are now fixed, and i can present you
the famous CWM based recovery, in all of it’s colorful glory No more pink and green mess I’ve tested all functions and they work for me ( and belive me – i’m using it all the time to test cm7 wip buillds) – so grab it and test it, before i will report it to Koush
From the developer claims, it is evident that you can use every function available in the recovery from flashing ROMs to wiping cache and making backups. Here is the step by step guide to install ClockworkMod Recovery Version 184.108.40.206 on your HTC Wildfire with S-OFF:
