Sharing files via email from your iOS device isn’t all that convenient. By default, there is no attach option in the iPhone or iPad native Mail client. You can only email files from within other apps. In addition, the stock Mail app places restrictions on the size and number of attached files (for instance, you can attach a maximum of five photos to a single mail). However, now that file sharing web service Kicksend has released its client to the iTunes App Store, users can enjoy sharing files and photos without any limitations on size and number. Kicksend already has a desktop client; it’s about time it expanded to mobile platforms. Read on for more on the Kicksend app for iOS. Update: The Kicksend app is now available for Android as well. A link to its Google Play Store page has been added at the bottom of this post.

The app is pretty similar to the desktop client. First of all, you need to have a Kicksend account, of course. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up for a new one from within the app.

To get you started, Kicksend walks you through the concept behind the app, as well as a tutorial on how to use it. As an example, you are asked to snap a picture from within the app, and then share it with someone. The receiver need not have a Kicksend account, as sharing through email forwards a public link to your photo.

The app will pull your contacts’ info from your address book or mailing list, allowing you to create a whole network of people you know on Kicksend. If the chosen recipient of a file is on Kicksend as well, the sharing is particularly easy, as instead of a link, the whole file will be directly transferred to that person’s device or desktop. Whenever you receive a file on the app, a push notification is displayed, which takes you straight to the incoming file. To share multiple files in one go, all you have to do is hit the big camera button in the middle of the bottom bar and then, from your device’s media library, choose all desired files. Kicksend also offers the option to send files to more than one contacts simultaneously through the Lists option.

The app, like the service itself, is free. The link provided below will take you to its App Store page.
