We are human beings, and have been blessed with intelligence and cognition. That is why keeping track of important dates and times has become so important, which is apparent from the integration of calendars in smartphones and social media. Nowadays, you are less likely to forget the birthday of a close friend thanks to Facebook. However, there are many tasks and reminders you set on the calendar of your iPhone, but wish to make them a little more public at a later time. This is what UpTo is all about. This iOS app lets users share their events with friends on Facebook and Twitter, and using the app, you can also learn of all the upcoming important events from the profiles of your contacts. UpTo serves as an alternative calendar for users of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and has a pretty handy color-coded interface which will let you differentiate between busy and lazy days at a single glance.
There are two ways of signing in to UpTo; you can login using your Facebook account, or there is the option to create a new one using your email ID. If you choose to create an app-specific account, you have to provide your name and email address to UpTo, and then you can start syncing your iDevice’s calendar with the one used in UpTo. Fetching all your local events, the app’s calendar reflects your schedule on any given day using colors (red being the busiest). If you have chosen to connect your Facebook or Twitter account with UpTo, it becomes possible to view the activities of your friends. In the app’s Activity section, publicly shared events from your UpTo contacts will show up, and it is possible to comment on any event via your app account.
Not only are you allowed to add individual contacts to UpTo, it is also possible to create groups and then set reminders related to them. The predefined groups in the include Friends, Work and Family, and they also act as privacy filters within UpTo. For each event you create yourself, it is possible to choose its visibility from three levels, including publishing to your groups on UpTo, social network, or keeping the post locked so that no one else will be able to see it. You can also choose the category for each event by tapping it and then choosing the appropriate icon from the bottom bar.
UpTo is a free app, and that’s why you should give it a try, as it might bring some convenience to your daily life.
