Bored? Got your Android smartphone or tablet handy and want to play a game, but tired of the same old collection of games that you have played again and again? If you’re looking for a new casual game to help get the hours going in a jiffy, we’ve looked up one for you that looks like tons of light, casual fun. Paper War for Android lets you play as a cannon to destroy your enemy’s cannon or aircraft, all designed with cool paper-drawn graphics. So what are you waiting for? Let’s dig into it together after the jump.

Canon Battle

Snazzy, hand-drawn graphics and three different modes of gameplay makes Paper War for Android a fun, simple yet challenging single-screen multiplayer pastime. The concept itself is quite unique too – you needn’t exactly destroy the opponent based on any hard-coded hit limit. In fact the objective of the game is to reach yout own user-defined score limit before your opponent does. A different score limit can be defined for each of the three game modes.

You can either play against the computer, or against a friend on the same device. When first playing this game, an obvious thought that struck our mind was how fun it would be to play it together with our friends using multiple devices. We tried looking for such a feature in the game’s options but unfortunately, as of this writing, Paper War does not support multiplayer gameplay over an internet connection (WiFi) and can only be played on the same device, which is why it requires one that supports multitouch. However, it is still in beta and might see some additions in future updates.

Paper War’s game modes include:

  • Anti-aircraft: Shoot down enemy aircraft while avoiding your own.
  • Canon Battle: Wreck your opponent’s canon. Projectiles vary according to changing wind speed and direction
  • Plane Smasher: Tap to destroy enemy aircraft

For an Android game that is free and hasn’t been ported over from the iOS, Paper War is half a star away from being brilliant. And all it needs to bridge that gap is the option to play with friends over WiFi, Internet or Bluetooth. You can grab Paper War for free from the Android Market via the link provided below.
