Motorola Photon 4G is a high-tier Android device that has managed go gather a massive fan base within days of its release. Although the phone got root and there are scores of custom ROMs available for this phone, but there are folks who like to keep it stock without getting in trouble of gaining root access. Apparently some Photon 4G users without root are facing issues with Wi-Fi connectivity. Motorola has been quick to answer these issues and has released a minor software update that will fix the Wi-Fi connectivity dilemma faced by some. According to Motorola, the update should be installed as soon as possible to fix Wi-Fi and for enhanced user experience.
The software update version is (Version.4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_6) 45.2.7.MB855.Sprint.en.US and is available over the air as of now.
In case you haven’t received the OTA update notification, then try the following procedure:
- The first step is to make sure that your phone is connected over a stable Wi-Fi internet connection.
- Once done, go to Settings > About Phone and tap on System Updates.
- Now you will receive a notification that an update for your phone available.
- Tap on the update tab followed by tapping on Install.
- Now sit back and relax while the update is downloaded and installed on your phone.
- After the installation is complete, your phone will automatically reboot.
Please note that we aren’t sure how this update will effect your Photon 4G if you download and install it on your rooted phone. If you have root on your device, then it’s better to wait for a custom ROM that comes integrated with this update.
