The advent of Revolutionary, the bootloader unlock tool from Unrevoked and Alpharev, has seemingly pushed HTC to beef up it’s web based bootloader unlocking efforts. According to HTC’s official tweet, Android developers have been requested to checkout HTC Dev Portal for official Android kernel sources and also to see the upcoming online bootloader unlocking teaser.
Here is what the tweet exactly communicated

Although HTC has made HTC Dev Portal really appealing with all the colors and slickness, but we believe that Revolutionary IO is a much better bootloader unlocking utility with lesser eye candy. It is not yet clear which HTC devices bootloader unlocking will be done through this dev center. HTC Sensation, EVO 3D and Flyer might be the lucky ones to get the unlocking, but on the other hand, Revolutionary provides unlocking support for 11 HTC devices.
Apparently the HTC bootloader unlocking utility will be up and running at the end of the month or start of next month. It is also necessary to keep in mind that although HTC will be officially unlocking bootloaders with this method, but it will still void warranty. And it isn’t clear if this method will be applicable only on unbranded stock HTC devices or the one’s with carrier plans.
We are keeping a keen eye out on these developments and will update this post as soon as HTC makes it’s HTC Dev portal for unlocking bootloaders functional. In the mean time, you can use the search option on AddictiveTips to gain S – Off, unlock bootloader on Revolutionary compatible devices.
