Shazam surprised almost all Windows Phone users
by suddenly coming back from the dead (in terms of WP development) and releasing a new version for WP8 devices. Adobe Reader has been around for WP7 for even longer than Shazam
, so there wasn't much reason for anyone to really hope for a WP8-exclusive update of the app. Thankfully though, the update has arrived, and although it isn't hugely different from the Mango variant of the app, there are some things that might make the new Adobe Reader for Windows Phone a permanent fixture on many devices. The app can open and save PDFs from a number of sources including email, Office, Internet Explorer and even some third-party apps. You can also view password-protected files in Adobe Reader - something that has caused issues for Windows Phone users in the past. The app’s search capabilities and page viewer are pretty decent as well.
Some people are tone deaf, others just fail trying to mix, match, contrast, or create color combinations. This might pose a problem for people in everyday life and occasionally, for designers who have hit a wall trying to come up with a good theme. One really easy way to come up with a great color theme is to look at your surroundings for inspiration; anything from a soothing landscape to the floral arrangement on your desk can be instrumental in finding a nice combination of colors to use in your project, and Adobe’s new iOS app Adobe Kuler
is is a helpful tool that lets you do just that. The app, which is available for free in the App Store, lets you take pictures and detects the different colors in them to give you a theme. You can either snap an image and extract color themes from it, use an image from your camera roll to do the same, point your camera at anything in the room and have the app pick colors from the input, live, or use the built-in color wheel to create themes from scratch. Adobe Kuler also has a web app that gives you a color wheel for creating themes but doesn't allow you to pick them from an image.
Photoshop is like air to professional image editors but with its Pandora’s box of options and features, it can be quite gushing for novice users. Usually what I’m looking for in an image editor are a few Instagram-esque filters accompanied by some basic styling and editing tools - nothing with a steep learning curve. Adobe Photoshop Express for iOS and Android has been around for quite a while, but now Adobe feels it’s time to up the ante and bring it to Windows 8 and RT. Though many would consider the free software 'infantile', here’s still a good opportunity to size it up against your favorite image editors, and see if it earns a place at your editing table.
There can be no denying the fact that Adobe Ideas
is nowhere near as feature-rich as Photoshop Touch for iOS
, but regular users of Illustrator are sure to appreciate the convenience Ideas can bring to their life. The app isn't an iOS variant of Illustrator, but is often useful if you want to start with a basic idea on your iPhone or iPad, and can’t wait till you get your hands on a desktop. There isn't a lot you can do in Ideas, but the tools are enough to create a layout for a decent free form vector illustration. Until now though, Adobe Ideas was priced at $9.99, and it wasn't exactly a piece of cake getting your sketches from the app to Illustrator. The latest update of Ideas has addressed both these issues by making the app free, and adding syncing options for projects between Ideas and Creative Cloud.
Photoshop is the undisputed king of professional-grade photo-editing on the desktop. Now, Adobe has brought over a host of the most popular features of its desktop photo-editing application to smartphones with Photoshop Touch
for both iPhone and Android. Check out our hands-on look at it after the jump. Read More
The previously covered video highlights app Givit
belongs to a category that has yet to see a lot of development. Fortunately though, a big name has finally shown interest in the genre by coming up with a nice highlights compilation app of its own. Adobe’s VideoBite
could be labeled as a very simple video editor, but that might be overstating its functionality a bit. Basically, this iOS app lets you combine parts of different videos into a single clip. You can mark a particular moment as a ‘highlight’ while recording, or choose parts from videos that already exist in the camera roll of your device. These highlights can then be rearranged individually before you share them over Facebook or save them locally.
Apart from its visually stunning looks, Windows 8 boasts many excellent features that make it one of the best versions of Windows ever to come out of Redmond’s door, in our opinion. One of the new features of Windows 8 is its native ability to handle PDF documents via the integrated Reader app. However, if you tend to use Adobe Reader for all your PDF needs, you’ll be delighted to learn that its Modern UI app has just been released in Windows Store that does a great job in letting you view all your PDF documents. The app is well-optimized for both Windows 8 and RT, and the experience is stunningly snappy in the latter. The app also supports touch gestures, making navigation a breeze on tablets.
Adobe Reader is, no doubt, the most widely used (and perhaps the best) PDF reader. This application was developed by Adobe, which was also responsible for creating the Portable Document Format (PDF). Despite being a feature rich PDF reader, Adobe Reader has recently suffered from lags, startup delays etc. PDF SpeedUp
is a tool which takes care of these Adobe Reader issues by speeding up the time it takes to load Adobe Reader, as well as making it smoother in functionality by turning off unwanted elements of the application. For instance, this application targets the various unimportant plug-ins which load with Adobe PDF, in order to speed it up.
More and more people are using electronic signatures in the corporate sector for secure transfer of legal documents since it is a much better alternative to sending your documents via courier or air mail, especially if you have offices or clients overseas. Also, electronic signatures are ideal for confidential fax and emails that can easily fall into the wrong hands. Popular electronic signature web service Adobe EchoSign
has has released its official mobile client for
iOS devices to allow the secure sending and receiving of important legal and corporate documents from anywhere and at anytime. The app allows you to keep track of all documents that have been signed or are pending for signatures with this app and send electronically signed faxes.
Windows Explorer lists down all the tags of selected images in the image preview pane, but it is both time consuming and wearisome to edit the tags of each image using the default options. Since Adobe Flash Player is essential for streaming flash content over the web, everyone needs to have it installed with latest updates. The problem arises when Adobe rolls out a new version of Flash Player, compelling users to install the updated version immediately through pop-up messages which are at times a bit annoying. Since Adobe Flash Player is widely used, hackers can always exploit its installation with malwares and other potential threats. To be on the safe side, you can try Alternative Flash Player Auto-Updater
which claims to be the only remedy for the problem. It checks all the possible security risks that may involve in Adobe Flash installation. Furthermore, you wont need to install Adobe Download Manager, it can directly download and install secured Adobe Flash player for you.
Adobe Flash Professional suites are extensively used for creating animations and application applets, these applets are generally exported into SWF (Shockwave Flash) format to embed into Web pages. Adobe Flash Professional suite offers a simple debugger to run SWF files separately, but this poses a question that what if you need to run SWF applet without having to install Adobe Flash suite or using a debugger. This is where Swiff Player
comes in handy, it is designed solely to run SWF animations and application applets while supporting hardware acceleration for experimental purposes.
Adobe Acrobat Reader has finally made it to the Android Market and is now available to download for free. Adobe's PDF format has long been the globally recognized standard for portable documents. With the ever-increasing popularity of smartphones, the availability of viewer / reader software for any major format on all popular smartphone platforms is on the rise. While there have been other alternatives available for viewing PDF files on Android, none of them can fully render all components of PDF files, and many just don't render the text the way it is meant either. Adobe's offering offers a print-quality rendering and supports many advanced features. Therefore, for many documents, you just need the official Adobe Reader.
A few months back Adobe launched Acrobat.com website to compete with Google Docs, Microsoft Office Web Apps
, and Zoho. Officially, they are online services where you can upload, create, and share documents but can however be used as online storage to backup all your files too.
As we mentioned
yesterday, ePub is a format which stands for electronic publishing and is a standard for many ebook readers. There are tools which can be used to read ePub format, but what if you want to write a book and save it in ePub format?
Adobe has finally launched the first beta of Adobe Air 2 to the public. It includes lots of new features and takes far less system memory than it’s predecessors. The latest version includes Mass Storage device integration which means Adobe Air apps can now access USB drives, Flash memory sticks, Digital Camera, and more.
Not all websites or blogs are compatible with all web browsers across different OS. This is where the need for such a service arises where we can test multiple websites across different browsers.

Just write a website address and hit Enter. You can choose the way you would like a website to be displayed, 1-up view, 2-up view, or Onion Skin View. Since I do a lot of comparing across different browsers, I personally prefer 2-up view.
