Batch Upload Files & Running Processes To VirusTotal For Scanning

VirusTotal is a robust online security tool that lets you scan suspicious files through a series of tests using a host of antivirus engines such as TrendMicro, McAfee, BitDefender, Kaspersky, DrWeb, and a truckload of others. It’s a powerful cloud-based malware and virus scanning solution that has pretty much eliminated the need for running a dedicated antivirus or antimalware app on your computer for the purpose of scanning individual files (though you should still be running one nevertheless for your system's protection in background). If you rely on VirusTotal for checking suspicious files on the fly and find it to be a safe and convenient way for the said task, you'll have to admit that having to upload your files individually from the web interface isn't the most convenient method for the task. Though things are going to get a bit easier in that department for you, thanks to PhrozenSoft VirusTotal Uploader. It’s an awesome Windows application that lets you upload files to the service right from your desktop, thus eliminating the need for opening the site in a web browser. Lets take a closer look. Autorun Angel Is A Cloud-Based Security Analyzer For Startup Items

My first hand experience tells me that Windows Task Manager is not the most efficient way to find out the integrity of currently running processes or applications that auto execute during Windows logon. Although it allows you to kill unresponsive applications or disable them entirely from running, you can never be so sure whether a process or service is malicious, or harmless to your system. This is where tools like Autorun Angel really shine. This nifty little app scans your computer for autorun entries against its own cloud database, and highlights only those services or autorun programs that seem dangerous to your system or may be the root cause of an ongoing problem. This can include all sorts of malware including spyware, adware, trojans, viruses et al. According to the developer, the scan engine is powered by NictaTech Antivirus Engine, which is the company’s native cloud engine for checking for viruses. Read More

They provide attackers with certain administrator privileges, so they can take complete control of your system. It’s quite difficult to detect such rootkits, and many antivirus or anti-malware tools simply overlook them. Read More

Restore Browser Settings & DNS When Changed By Malware

One of the things that many malware and viruses do while attacking the computer is enable dead or inactive TCP/UDP ports to start listening to malicious external requests. This process sometimes involves shutting down browsers' native antivirus security features, which are specifically incorporated to prevent users from like threats. So, unless you deploy a smart malware detection solution, you may not be able to find and remove the bugs that surreptitiously deteriorate your browser's performance. Most antivirus suites are programmed to detect the malware only when they are accessed or moved to main memory as a part of the basic application operation request. Even if it's not loaded into the memory, it can change the browsers' native features that help prevent external attacks. Developed by Anvisoft, Browser Repair offers a robust solution to tackle malware and threats that attempt to change browsers’ native features. As of now, it supports only Internet Explorer, but has some options, which can resolve issues that you may be facing in other browsers as well. Read More

Crystal AEP Protects Your System Against Drive-By (Unintended) Download Exploits

From home-based users to large scale industrial organizations, the relevance of the Internet has exposed systems to a variety of vulnerabilities where viruses, malware and hackers easily penetrate through firewalls to gain and exploit root access of the systems. Usually, a conventional antivirus compares programs and data with a database of known ‘bad’ programs to detect and kill viruses, but, on the internet, an unsuspecting user may follow directions on a website of interest, yielding installations, which actually fall through the security cracks of the system. Another popular penetration method used by malware is through ‘drive-by downloads’. These exploits aren't caused by any user interaction and come into effect due to malicious websites, escaping through internet-exposed software (such as your browser) to the system. Crystal Anti-Exploit Protection prevents attacks that originate without any user interaction and works in coordination with your anti-virus to present a highly secure usage experience. Read More

Computer viruses come in all shapes and sizes – ranging from malware and spyware to trojans and worms - but the most dangerous ones are guised under an Antivirus banner themselves. To combat this problem, today we have a software for you labelled Fake Antivirus Remover.
