iPhone users have a lot of options available when they want to share their photos with the world. When it comes to videos, the options are not as vast, but still a satisfactory amount of methods exist. Though, most of those might be as convenient as the set of options YouTube Producer has to offer. With this useful app, not only can you upload your videos to YouTube with ease, but also add background music to it before you do so.

Using YouTube Producer is extremely easy. A graphical demo appears at launch to walk you through the app’s working. On the app’s homescreen, there are four neatly laid out menus. Before you proceed, make sure that you have the target video already in the Camera Roll, as there is no option to shoot a video from within the app. From the homepage, you also get to decide how much of the selected video’s original audio you want to keep; the remaining space will be filled out by the music you choose.

After a video has been successfully loaded by YouTube Producer, the next step is to choose a background song for it. This can be done by going to the Song Select menu. You can use the Browsing Assistant if you are not sure what kind of music would go well with your clip, or there is the option to go for any of the Popular Songs. The Browsing Assistant will have you choose the desired music’s tempo, genre and mood, and based on your selection, a suitable collection of songs will be suggested. You can preview each music clip before applying it to your selected video.

Once you have done all that, YouTube Producer will let you view the end result, which you can then Upload to YouTube. Before you publish the video, you will need to add the appropriate tags and category for the clip. Once the upload is complete, you can share the video over Facebook, Twitter and via email.

GRAMMY is rightly termed as music’s biggest night of the year. It is a well-known fact that a vast majority of photos shared across various online services originate from the camera in some iOS device, but when it comes to recording videos with your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, the camera is just as useful. Unfortunately, there aren’t as many apps for video editing as there are for photos, and that’s what makes TimeFreeze a really interesting addition to the App Store. The app lets its users add background music to their videos, and you can also make your footage looking like a snippet from the Matrix, by adding the slow motion effect to any area of the clip. The app is really easy to use, and guides you through each step of its usage in a comprehensive manner. The first thing you need to do to use TimeFreeze is to import a raw video clip to it. You can choose any video stored in the Camera Roll, or there is the option to shoot a video from within the app and then process it. If you want, you can also save the unprocessed (raw) clip to the Camera Roll, so that it remains possible to compare the changes the clip goes through.

When you are ready, hit the Next button in the top right. This brings up the the Slow motion speed menu. Here you will have to choose the value by which the chosen frames will be slowed down. The slider is calibrated in terms of seconds, and the higher this value, the slower the frames will be. If you want to accentuate the slow motion effect even more, toggle on the Double speed on rest option, which will make the slowed down portion of the video last even longer. The same menu has the option to choose the quality of the processed clip, and choosing a higher quality will increase the processing time quite a bit. When you hit the Next button on this menu, you are taken to the Slow motion range screen, asking you to define 2 frames which will act as starting and ending points for the slowed down portion of the video clip.

TimeFreeze currently has just 4 background music clips, and you can select the most suitable one for your video in the Sound menu. This menu is also useful if you want to omit the original audio of the video clip. By toggling on Slow motion effect, you can get the fuzzy look when the clip’s view shifts between slow motion and normal speed. After everything is done, TimeFreeze will take a few minutes to process the clip, and after that you can Play or save (to Camera Roll) the clip. The sharing option offered by the app include Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

One limitation of TimeFreeze, which makes this otherwise brilliant app a little restricted, is the maximum output resolution currently standing at VGA only. While it may have been more than enough for smartphones in general, taking into account the iPhone 4S’ capable HD camcorder and A5 processor, the developer may benefit from handing over the resolution control to users, rather than putting cap on it.

One of the main reasons people own an iPod touch is to listen to their favorite songs on the go. Even on iPhone and iPad, the stock Music app gets used a lot, and that is why a music-related Cydia tweak for jailbroken iOS devices is always welcome. MusicBanners might not seem like a really useful tweak at first glance, but actually, it can prove to be pretty useful for people who like to listen to music for longer periods of time, and while performing various tasks. If you have this tweak, a banner notification will be displayed each time a song ends and a new song starts. Not only that, the tweak also comes with Notification Center and lockscreen support.

MusicBanners is available as a free tweak in the Big Boss repo of the Cydia store. Once installed, you will not find any new app icon on your Springboard or within the Settings app. The tweak will start working straightaway. When you play a song, a notification banner will show up, and tapping it will take you to the song’s Now Playing screen. A similar banner will be displayed by MusicBanners as soon as every song finishes and a new one starts. There are a lot of people, including me, who like to keep their music organized and well-tagged. Tagging the music helps you in easily searching for the required track, no matter which audio player you are using. Even though it has great usefulness, Microsoft hasn’t given a lot of options to users in this regard. Tagging files is a lengthy process of opening each file individually and editing the correct information for every track separately. The main reason that most people avoid tagging their music collection is the amount of time and effort it takes to do it. It is a spreadsheet-based tag editor for your audio and video files. The application provides you with a unified interface, allowing you to easily modify tags, including the file name, track title, artist, album, year of release, total time, bit rate, etc. Each tag is neatly displayed in one cell of a spreadsheet like interface, and multi-selection lets you quickly perform mass tagging and renaming on a large number of files. Right now, the currently supported formats are MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, APE, AVI, WAV, WMA, WMV OGG, ASF, MPC, MPP and MPEG.

The interface of the application has a toolbar at the top, containing buttons for different actions, such as Open, Save, Save all, Restore Cell, Delete, Find & Replace, Set Column, Files Reorder, Fill Track Number etc. The space below the toolbar shows the current File Name, Quality, Total Time and Total Size of the selected file.

The application allows you to edit Name, Title, Artist, Album, Year, Track Number, Comments, Bitrate and Time of the selected track. Once you edit a cell, it will be shown in yellow color. Select Save All from the toolbar before navigating out of the folder to save the changes.

The Settings window is accessible from its button at the top-right corner of the main interface. It lets you adjust General, Connection and Appearance related options, such as Number of Columns, Grid Font, Cell Colors, Grid Color, Proxy for HTTP Connection, Language etc.

I believe we, at Addictive Tips, are guilty of not covering enough fun applications for the Windows platform. Mostly, the applications that we review are useful tools, which either perform a new function, or simplify a current process. However, there’s a lot of truth to the saying “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy,” especially when working on computers. Games are a very nice way to release the stress caused by constantly working, but if games are not your cup of tea, you can try another activity which is very relaxing, i.e., creating music. Don’t have a musical instrument lying around? Here is a little application that will surely fill the gap. Little Piano is a simple virtual keyboard that provides you with a virtual piano, allowing you to exercise your creativity. More on Little Piano after the break.

The application is a lot fun, to be honest (I played with it for a good 30 minutes before realizing I had to write its review!). It provides you with over 127 instrument sounds and 10 channels for recording your creations. To back your melodies, you can either use the stock drum patterns, or make your own. There are two sets of keys, and each key has a range of five octaves to go lower and higher on the notes. The Keyboard Mode drop down menu allows you to use both sets as just Notes, or Notes and Chords.

The interface has the recording and playback controls at the top, the keyboard in the center, channels available to the left, while the Chords, Drum Pattern and Pattern Editor tabs, as well as the Instrument list, can be selected at the bottom.

Other than the basic keyboard notes and chords, Little Piano also allows you to set up drum patterns for backing your melodies. There is a list of ready-made drum patterns for different types of music, such as Basic, Blues, Hip Hop, Rock, Misc etc.

If you don’t want to use the default drum patterns, you can use the Pattern Editor to create your own drum patterns. Left-click adds the beat, while the right-click removes it. You can choose from Ride Cymbal, Pedal Hi-Hat, Open Hi-Hat, Acoustic Snare, Acoustic Kick, High Floor Tom and Low Floor Tom. The application provides you with multiple beat patterns, such as 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/12 etc.

The Instrument List at the right side lets you choose from over 174 types of instruments to create the music of your choice.

Midi Sheet Music is an open source application that allows you to play MIDI files and convert them to sheet music. The application plays the music files in MIDI format, and automatically highlights the current music note being played. It allows you to set different custom colors for each note, and plays the track on a user-specified speed. You can choose which instrument to show & which to hide from the sheet, and view the staves according to a different Key Signature, Time Signature and Transpose, Shift Notes, Measure length etc of tracks. It lets you enable and disable note letters along with the staves, and show/hide Measure Numbers of notes. You can save the staves as images, and print them from within the application. The application provides you with a very simple interface, with every option available at your finger tips. At the top, there are menus for File, View, Color, Tracks and Notes. The playback controls are available below the menus, while the sheet music appears in the middle. Choose Open from File menu to load an MIDI file in the application, and convert it to sheet music.

Under the Color menu, select Use Color to apply different colors for each note, and Choose Colors for selecting custom colors for every note.

The Tracks menu has options to select and deselect one or all instruments from the track for displaying its sheet music. The Choose Instruments window allows you to set a different instrument for each of the seven tracks available.

The Note menu allows you to view sheet music with different options, such as change its Key Signature or Time Signature, Transpose the staves up to and down to 12 notes, Shift Notes, Measure Length and Combine Notes Within Interval. Toggles are available to Show Note Letters, Show Measure Numbers and Play Measures in a loop.

Midi Sheet Music is a portable application that works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The final build of the CyanogenMod 9 custom ROM for Android might still be in the pipelines but users have been receiving small piece of its awesomeness at frequent intervals. First, it was the alpha version of the ROM itself, then a taste of its native launcher (Trebuchet Launcher), and now it’s the official CyanogenMod 9 Music app that has been released by the developer Andrew Neal on his website. The music player is currently available for devices running CM9 or Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and higher. It has an ICS-style default interface, but comes with the option to download and apply skins, one of which replicates the looks of Google Music. Other highlights of the player include the option to purchase and delete tracks from within the app, customizable status bar UI, gesture and motion controls, multiple attractive animations for transitions between tracks, comprehensive set of sound enhancement options (including a 5-band equalizer), and ICS-style homescreen widgets in multiple sizes. Unlike Google Music, the app is currently constrained to just playing your local music files, and does not support playing your favorite tracks stored on the Google Music cloud. According to the developer, said feature might never be incorporated as Google hasn’t yet released an API for the service in question. The developer could, however, incorporate support for lyrics, although is no indication of that happening in future updates.

To add to the long list of features that the app sports, you can set any song as your device’s default ringtone while listening to it, shake your device to pause/play music, or flip it face down to stop temporarily.

Not only can you choose which controls/buttons are to appear in the media player’s interface, but also define custom gestures to control music from within the same screen.

In addition, there’s a whole lot of customization options for status bar controls. The app provides you with complete control over what elements of the music player should be displayed within the status bar while a track is playing. You can add playback controls, enable album art, tweak font settings, or simply use the Minimal Settings presets.

The app’s settings let you enhance the sound for individual components including the headset, Bluetooth or the device’s speaker. In this regard, there are plenty of equalizer presets to select from, and if you find none of these satisfactory, you can define your own EQ settings.

The player is all set to be officially released to the Android Market in the coming days, but you don’t have to wait any longer to get your hands on this peach of a product. With each passing day, more and more applications and services are beginning to appear on the internet. A lot of simple functions, from opening and editing text files to listening to music and watching movies, can be performed without having to download anything to your computer. Pandora is an online radio service that allows you to listen to music by visiting its home page. Now, someone has been kind enough to develop an open source desktop client for Pandora, named Elpis, to manage your account, and listen to your favorite bands and artists. It allows you to view, sort and select stations, as well as play, pause, skip, thumbs up, thumbs down and mark a song when you tired of it to stop it for appearing in the list again. The application allows you to sign in to your Pandora account, bringing in all your favorite stations and music to the program. The Settings button at the top right allows you to set default application options, such as Audio Format, Station Sort Order, Global Media Keys etc.

Once you are logged in to the application, the Add button at the top right allows you to search for new artists, songs, and related playlists.

Double-clicking a station will automatically activate its playlist, and add the station to your account.

In the playlist view (accessible from Playlist button in the top-left), you can Rename, Delete, Add Variety (add similar stations) and view Station Info.

iTunes is a feature rich app, an entire ecosystem for media management across all Apple devices, and it might also be capable of turning base metals to gold, but don’t tell the alchemists that! iTunes may be feature rich and all, but it is heavy as an app. It hogs some serious memory and will likely slow your Mac down even if you’re just using it to listen to songs. Sonora is a free Mac app that imports MP3s from your iTunes library, and ltes you add songs to it by dragging & dropping songs onto the app. You don’t have to go through menus, or wait for anything to sync before you can listen to a song.

The app‘s interface is simple; the music player and controls are located at the top, while volume controls at the bottom left. The app lets you view popular songs, songs by artist, or newly added tracks. Songs are listed in the left panel, and the library can be viewed to the right. You can switch between the library view and the Mixes view, which is where the playlists are listed. To add a song to the app (it maintains its own library), drag & drop it where it says Drag songs here to enqueue.

To create a playlist, click the plus sign at the bottom right. The playlist panel will open on the right side, and you can drag & drop songs from the library to add them to the list. From the Mixes tab, you can give your playlists a name or edit them. The options will appear when you mouse over a playlist.

The app has growl notifications for when a new song is played or a song is changed. You can enable them from the app’s preferences. Additionally, you can also scrobble songs to Last.fm, and the app can be set to sync with iTunes at startup.

The app only plays audio format files and does not support video formats. MP3s are, by far, the easiest to read for it.

iTunes is a media manager for iDevices, and thus allows syncing Library items with only iPod, iPhone, and iPad. If you own a non-iPod portable audio player, and want to synchronize it with iTunes Music Library, have a look at Notpod. It’s a miniscule application that lets you synchronize any type of portable audio player with iTunes library without having to tweak the basic structure of iTunes Music Library.xml file. The application disguises your non-iPod music player as iTunes compatible device, and then adds it to iTunes Devices section, letting you synchronize Music Library with specified folder of your portable audio player.

After installation, it parks itself in system tray, from where you can bring up the configuration console to add the portable media player you want to sync with iTunes. First off, right-click its system tray icon and select Preferences. Now, plug-in your portable audio player, click New device, enter its name, and choose the synchronization pattern followed by target folder on your audio player’s storage. Now, it requires you to specify a unique folder or file to identify the device. Alternatively, you can click Create to a create a .notpod file for device identification purpose. Once settings are in place, choose the playlist which is to be synced with specified folder, and hit Save device. It will add your device in the list. Similarly, you can add more devices to Devices list.

Now launch iTunes to view the newly created device in Devices section. If it fails to add your portable media player, close both iTunes and Notpod, and launch them again. To start the synchronization process, right-click system tray and click Synchronize devices.

A notification balloon will pop-up once the synchronization process finishes.

The first synchronization job might take a while to copy the specified playlist items to your portable music player. The time it takes to synchronize the playlist depends upon the total number of items present in specified playlist. The application works without any issues whatsoever, but it would’ve been better, if it allowed syncing multiple playlists in one go. Notpod works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The stock Music app and music controls in iOS make it pretty easy for users to enjoy music without having to go through a lot of complications. Recludo, however, is a Cydia tweak that makes listening to your favorite songs an even more enjoyable and convenient task. Read on to find out what exactly does this useful tweak do.

Recludo will basically make your device act like a dedicated music station. Each time you unlock your phone’s screen, you will be taken straight to the music app. This might sound a bit inconvenient, as you are not likely to use your iDevice solely for music. That is why Recludo acts intelligently, and it will only launch the music app if your lock screen has music controls active on it.

The tweak does not add any app icon to the Springboard, and has no customizable settings in the Extensions tab. Recludo might prove to be a really useful tweak when you are busy elsewhere, and cannot afford to focus your entire attention on your device, like when you are driving while listening to music. Just make sure that the music controls are activated (by double tapping the home button on lock screen), and as soon as you unlock, you will be in the Music app. Admittedly, it does take the app a few moments to load, during which you will be left with just a blank, white screen, but that does not limit the usefulness of the tweak to a great extent.

Looking for a way to remotely stream iTunes music and playlists from your PC or Mac to your Android device? Try TuneSync HomeStream. The app lets you remotely stream your iTunes library from your desktop to your Android device through a desktop server application, sports an elegant interface and a nifty little built-in music player. The only requirement is that your device and computer should be sharing the same Wi-Fi network. The app’s desktop server, named TuneSync Server, is currently available for Windows and Mac OS X, and can be downloaded from the TuneSync website for free (link provided at the end of the post).

It should be noted that TuneSync HomeStream is not the only app of its kind in the Android Market. Previously reviewed Emit also provided the option to stream media and playlists from your iTunes library to your Android device. However, said app lags slightly behind TuneSync HomeStream when it comes to aesthetics and seamless streaming of audio.

What’s even better about this app is the minimal configuration that it requires. To be precise, the app’s desktop server, once launched, doesn’t require any configuration whatsoever, as it automatically assigns a default Library Name and Password for device identification. Both parameters can be changed later if required. All you need to do is ensure that both the server application and iTunes are up and running on your computer at the same time.

Configuring the app on your Android device is quite simple too. On the app’s homescreen, tap Host Computer, select the required desktop (identified by the iTunes Library Name specified in the server application) from the ones on your local network, and that’s it!

The screen that follows lists all the Artists, Genres and Playlists from your iTunes library under separate tabs. Just select the track that you wish to listen to, and the app begins streaming it though its neatly designed music player that carries some basic media controls, and displays various track details such as its title, album name and album art. The player supports fast-forwarding tracks as well.

Tapping Menu on this screen lets you toggle shuffle and repeat on and off. That’s not all, the app also supports playing tracks while running in the background so that you can enjoy reading your eBooks, or surfing the internet while listening to your iTunes tracks.

Even though the iPod app in iOS devices is pretty good in itself, you might get bored of it after a while. There are many alternative music players available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in the App Store, but most of them come with the disadvantage of not integrating with the stock music library, so if you start using them, you have to give up using the iPod library. Skins is a new iOS music player that lets you play songs in your device’s collection, and that, too, in a beautifully themed environment. Not only that, Skins also fetches lyrics for each song, and displays them along with the album art.

After you have installed the app, it will guide you through its usage via a thoroughly laid out tutorial. The first thing you must do after getting a hang of things, is the importing of music from your device’s stock library. This can be done by going to the Lists menu, and then tapping the ‘+’ button. The imported music can be sorted into whole new playlists, or you can reorder clips within a certain playlist. Skins also supports random play, and handles calls between songs as well. You can configure the app to ask for permission before stopping play, or you can make changes in bulk via the Settings in the app as well. Lyrics for all songs are fetched from sources which can be defined in the Settings menu.

These are all the functionality features of Skins, but that’s not really what the app is all about, as you would have easily gotten all that in the stock iPod app. With Skins, you can change the look of the player incorporated within the app. There are two skins which are available for free, but if you want more, you will have to spend $1.99.

Freemake Music Box is a music player that lets you search for free online music, and listen to millions of songs. You can search the music by artist name, album name or the exact song name, depending on your choice. We have all used SoundCloud  at one point or another, either the web service itself, through browser extensions, or on our Android or iOS devices. Windows Phone 7 users, however, have been missing out on the fun. Not any more, though. Music Cloud offers a run-of-the-mill interface common to most Windows Phone 7 apps of this genre. Just tap Search to look for any track from SoundCloud, and if it’s a particular favorite of yours, you can Download it, and add it to a Playlist that you have created. Whatever song you are listening to, the app adds it to a Queue - a sort of history of the songs you have played so far.

For those who do not have a particular music preference, Music Cloud offers a selection of Hot Music, which is a collection of the most popular tracks in SoundCloud. The app also supports background playing and downloading, for when you want to read a book or surf the internet while listening to a track. Slow MP3 is a java-based music player that lets you to do more than just listen to songs. As advertised by the developer, it is a music player for musicians. The application allows you to play MP3 and Wave files, transpose songs, slow down the playback, play the song in karaoke mode and transcribe it to view the chords. Moreover, it allows you to play a selected part of any song over and over again at user-specified speed to make it easier for you to listen and figure out its chords and notes. The application downloads as one executable jar file. Its interface consists of music player controls at the top left, Speed and Transpose controls at the top-right while Transcribe controls appear at the bottom. The wave data of the songs being played appears in the middle of the main interface. Whenever a song is added, it is automatically analysed by the application and made available to set custom speed, transpose, play as karaoke and transcribe. You can transpose any song up to up to six notes lower and six notes higher. Drag your mouse over the wave data to play any part of the song on repeat mode.

Pandora is a music streaming service with quite a lot of followers. For such a popular service, it makes sense that some of its users must be on Windows Phone 7. Unfortunately, there is no official Pandora app for WP7 yet, despite the presence of a considerable WP7 contingent among Pandora’s subscribers. However, what isn’t available officially on the Mango platform, usually makes its way to the Marketplace via third-party clients. Same is the case with Pandora, which has now got Radio Controlled, an app which will let you do just about anything related to your Pandora account, and while listening to its radio, you aren’t likely to feel that you are not using Pandora’s official app.

Of course, you will need to have a Pandora account before you can use the app, which makes the app useful for US residents only. No separate login is required for Radio Controlled, just enter your Pandora ID and password, and the app will take you straight to your account. The interface used throughout the app is pretty metro-like, and makes using Pandora a joy. If you have any channels bookmarked in your account, they will show up in Radio Controlled. Not only that, you can also create new stations from within the app if you want to. One nicety brought to WP7 by Mango is background play, and Radio Controlled fully supports that. While listening to a song on any station, you can navigate to any part of the phone, and the song will keep on playing.

Radio Controlled supports universal search, and you can look for any station, song or artist you want. The app not only connects with Pandora, but also gets information from Zune and Amazon. While listening to any track,, you can tap its info tab, and the song’s album art, artist info and other relevant data will be loaded. You can purchase the songs from Zune or Amazon as well.

easyRing&Music for Windows Phone 7 lets you search and download songs in MP3 format, look for ringtones, listen to whole playlists created by other users, and even edit songs to make ringtones out of them. Now Playing Detail Info is a Cydia tweak that has recently been released in the Big Boss repo of the infamous jailbreak store for iOS. The tweak makes listening to music on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch a relatively more enjoyable and convenient experience. It is common for desktop music players to display music information while a track is being played, and this handy tweak brings that same functionality to the app switcher tray of your iDevice. Read on for details.

After you have installed this free tweak on your iDevice, you don’t have to perform any further actions to get things started. “Now Playing Detail Info” will take control of your app switcher tray’s music area automatically, as there are no customizable settings in the Extensions menu, and also, being a tweak rather than a Cydia app, it has no icon on the Springboard.

All the songs you play via the stock Music app in iOS will have their album art (if any is found, of course) displayed in the app switcher tray (replacing the stock Music/iPod icon), as well as the song name, album title and artist info. The play, rewind and forward buttons in the iPod menu are readjusted automatically to accommodate the newly added information. Being a free tweak, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to not have “Now Playing Detail Info” installed on your jailbroken iOS device, as it adds a bit of extra usability to the app switcher tray without taking away anything.

GrooveDown is a simple downloader for the Grooveshark website, letting you easily search and download songs from within the main interface of this application, according to song, artist, album and playlists. All songs are saved in MP3 format. During testing, we found this application to be extremely quick in searching and downloading songs from Grooveshark. What makes GrooveDown even more useful is its simplified and quick song search and download mechanism, and reasonable memory stamp (64MB approximately).

To get started, select a search criteria (by Songs, Artists, Albums and Playlists), enter a search term, and click Search. You can select a song from the search result by clicking the (+) sign.

This will immediately start downloading the selected song(s) and save them to the pre-defined download directory.

When using the Playlists option, enter the name of an artist, select a playlist and click the (+) sign to download the entire playlist. As you can see in the below screenshot, the playlist is being displayed in expanded form. You can expand playlists to see the songs in them and then click (+) to download the entire playlist.

The Settings tab provides options to change the default download path, maximum parallel downloads and the custom save format (e.g. Artist, Album, Title). You can also change the logging format (minimum, normal or maximum) and view download logs from the Logs tab.

VidRhythm is an iOS app that is pretty unique, and you will be hard pressed to find another one like it. Using this fun-oriented app, you can create music videos of popular songs, and add a few touches of your own vocals to them as well. To just enjoy VidRhythm, you can play around with the songs provided within the app and create your own versions of them, or you can import songs to it (if they are in MIDI format), and then make their videos. The app has been around for quite a while in iPhone and iPad’s App Stores, but with the recent update, it has gone free. Read on to know all the features offered by VidRhythm.

VidRhythm incorporates an easy-to-follow tutorial, which is displayed when you launch the app for the first time. Although it might sound like a complicated task to create your own music video, but using this app, it really isn’t. VidRhythm does almost all the work for you, and gives you pretty amusing results in the end.

To get started with your video, choose a song first. If you have any MIDI audio clips in your device’s library, VidRhythm will import them as well. Before making your song choice, you can hear the preview of each song by tapping the speaker icon in light blue. After choosing the song, the next step is to decide which theme and style do you want to apply to your clip. All the available styles are listed on your screen after you have selected a song. The styles are all for fun, so don’t waste your time looking for something serious.

Now, depending on your choice of song, you will be presented with the recording menu. The recording supports both the back and front facing cameras. VidRhythm will guide you through singing each supporting note for the background music. For some of the more difficult notes, there is a feature named Guide Note, which will let you record to perfection. After you have finished recording, tap the Make Video Music button, which will take you to the sharing menu of the app after you have previewed your handiwork. You can save the video to Camera Roll, or share it over YouTube or Facebook.

VidRhythm has an HQ Mode, which allows users to create 720p videos. You might find the app pointless, but it can turn out to be useful if you just want to create something funny to share with your friends.

uberHype sports a relatively simple interface with all its content packed within a couple of tabs and sub-tabs. Tapping the Popular tab, displays all the currently hot-running sound tracks on the service. The three sub-tabs within Popular let you filter songs by their titles and Artists, or view only those shared via Twitter.

The Latest tab displays the most recent music from All Blogs and just those that you’ve subscribed to (My Subscriptions) under separate tabs.

Finally, the My Profile tab on the app’s homescreen sports three sub-tabs of its own. These include the My Favs tab, for songs that you’ve added to the app’s favorite list, Obsessed, for songs that you’ve listened to the most and Friends Favs, all the songs on the network that have been favorited by your friends.

Although you can access all the content/music that is being featured within the app for free, in order to access all subscribed content, you should be logged in with a valid Hype Machine account. Registration is free and can be done from within the app.

Any song that you come across can be added to your favorites list by tapping the heart icon, and played by tapping the track title itself. Long pressing on a track displays a drop-down menu with the options to Play or Share it, view more tracks by the same artist (More By Artist) or more by the same source/blog that shared the song (More By Blog). You also have the option to manually search for tracks/blogs.

The interface of the app’s music player is quite simple too, with basic player controls and the Like/Favorite button arranged at the bottom of the screen, and the album art covering the middle part of the screen. On top of this screen, you have the share button as well as a menu/more button. Tapping this button lets you explore more tracks from that particular artist/blog, read the associated blog post or follow the artist.

To start sharing music, tap the music note icon in the top-right corner of this screen. You can pick from any of the three aforementioned categories (Music Search, Music ID or My Songs).

The Music Search feature lets you manually search for songs by title or artist name, the Music ID option listen for and identifies music being played near you, while My Songs allows you to pick tracks from your local media library.

To each track that you wish to share, you can attach a custom photo (or stick with its album art), tag a location and add a brief description to it. Once all details are provided, tap Next. Before sharing the selected track over the web, you can listen to it on popular music streaming services Spotify and Rdio, or locally, if the song is stored on your SD card.

Hit the Trending posts tab to explore music shared by other app users. You can Like/Love and comment on each post, and start following a user whose music taste matches yours.

From within the app’s Settings, you can customize notifications as per your preference. For instance, you may choose to enable notifications just for the comments that other users add to your posts, or for when someone follows you on the network. Notifications can be received both as emails or real-time (push) alerts. You can also specify the Quiet Time during which you wish not to be disturbed by push notifications.

We have all been to parties where the music is just absolutely drab; enough to make you want to walk up to the DJ and have some groovy numbers added to the playlist. Fonzi for iOS does just that for you, and with just a tap of your finger. Just log in to the app with your Facebook account, and you can find whether a friend of yours is having a party nearby. Provided your part-hosting friend is using Fonzi too, not only can you track down the location of the party, but also choose the songs to be added to the party’s playlist.

Once you have logged in to the app using your Facebook account, you can tap Host a Party to set up the playlist for your party. Fonzi detects your physical location so that it can let your friends know of the party’s whereabouts. After you tap Start Party, Fonzi starts playing a random song from the collection on your iOS device, and posts your party’s location to your Facebook Wall.

You as well as your friends can Select Songs for the party’s playlist (My Playlist) from within those available on the host’s device. You can tap the like or dislike icons to vote for or against the currently playing song. The Activity section shows you who has Checked In at your party, whereas the Party Info screen – meant for attendees or people wishing to attend the party – displays the name of the host and the physical location of the party on Google Maps.

Not only is the app an excellent way to invite and guide friends to a party, but also serves as a way to keep the attendees happy with the music. The app is available for free on the App Store.

Sharing with friends and loved ones is what social networking is all about, and when we are multitasking, like listening to the latest background score from Michael Nyman, taking a photo, working and chatting with a friend, we might want to share all of this, and more, simultaneously. Path for iOS lets you do this on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, and also lets you update your physical location. The the good thing about this app is the variety of ways in which you can add your friends to your ‘path.’ You can add people from your Facebook account, add those who are already using Path, or even invite people who have an iOS device via SMS or email. Signing up is pretty easy, as it requires only your email address, and you’re good to go.

Once you have installed Path, just tap New Path to register using your email address. If you already have registered with Path, you can simply tap Existing Path to chart down your activities. You can choose your profile name by tapping at Type your name.

You can take a fresh profile picture for your path profile by tapping at the camera icon, or Choose one from your Camera Roll. Once you have registered, you can get down to adding friends in your path profile in a number of ways, i.e., from Facebook, Search Path for friends who are already using Path, Invite them via SMS or email, or look up your Contacts list to see if anybody in it is using Path. If any friend or anonymous person adds you on Path, you’ll receive a push notification (provided they’re enabled on your device). On Path’s home screen, you get a (+) sign in the bottom left corner, which will enable you to share the different kind of updates that the app supports.

You can tell you pals whether you are awake you asleep with Path. This option basically lets you set active or idle status on the application. Other content types that are supported include photos (both fresh captures and from existing ones) and music, where Path can look the song up over the internet or from your playlist. You can share your exact physical location by tapping at the location icon, including nearby POIs (points of interest). You can also let your friends know who you are with, or share your thoughts similar to status updates. The small crescent icon lets you choose whether you are awake or asleep.

Settings and other views may be accessed by tapping the More icon at the top left of the screen, where you can set how you want to be notified, change your profile picture etc. Path is a free app with a well-crafted, fluid interface. Grab it at the App Store link below.
