Want to quickly share presentations online and get feedback on them? Reel is a handy web app that creates presentations out of PPT, PDF and Word files. It is completely free and does not require any registration, requiring you to simply upload your files and generate beautiful presentations. PowerPoint presentations simply gets arranged according to slides, whereas Word and PDF files are treated as images that you can reorder in the presentation. Reel generates a URL link and an embed code of the HTML5 presentations, which can then be used on your website or blog. Furthermore, it offers users with Poll Results, which may be used to vote on presentations and view the results in order to get feedback.

Reel has a slick, easy-to-use interface. To start off, just click Upload and browse for your PPT, PDF or Word files.

Once you’ve uploaded a file, you will be able to see the thumbnails of your slides in the Edit & Arrange category. Reel allows you to set a name and description for each slide and presentation. Please note that files cannot be edited once they’re saved, so be careful when you make any changes.

Saving the file displays a report with Poll Results. These consist of up/down vote buttons, whcih users can use to vote for each slide. The Poll Results page also consists of a Sort Slides By option, where available options are Slide Order, Most Votes, Most Up Votes and Most Down Votes. Click Start Preso to begin the slideshow, during which forward/backward buttons are displayed on both sides for navigation between slides.

Reel also generates a embed code that you can use on your website or blog. In addition to that, it also generates a link that allows your to share the presentation on popular social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook.

PerCal, a Google Chrome app, allows you to schedule and keep track of your life, letting you manage personal and work events . Featuring drag & drop editing, quick navigation and an uncluttered interface. PerCal is a simple personal calendar app that tracks different types of events and gives a quick monthly view of upcoming events.

The app can be used to set reminders and events for everyday use, and lets you create events that get saved automatically. If you are a frequent user of Firefox, and need speedier access to your favorite websites, then you may want to check out Desktop. Desktop is a Firefox add-on that allows you to set web pages as thumbnails or widgets in the new tab page. You can place them anywhere on the page by drag & drop, and also create sub-folders. The layout you create will be displayed in every new tab you open. Visual effects can be applied by setting a background image for the new tab page in Firefox.

When you drag & drop the thumbnails, a grid is displayed, enabling you to neatly place the thumbnails at equal distances for a more decent look. A limitation for sub-folders is that you cannot name them, but an image can be  assigned to each in order to remember what the folder contains.

Desktop’s preferences allow you to set the background for the page and even clear it. The background images can be displayed in two particular styles: Stretch or Tile. You may also change the Grid Size, helpful for more accuracy when placing widgets.

Right-clicking the grid displays a context menu with the Add, Lock and Preferences options. Using the Add option, you can either add a Thumbnail or a Folder. A properties window is displayed, allowing you to enter the URL of any webpage you want to store, or select from the drop down list. You can also add Google search to the new tab page

YouTube Link Box is one Chrome extension that can enhance your YouTube experience, making your searches faster without the need for opening a new tab or browser window. This new extension is pretty slick and easy to use, quickly making into the list of my favorites.

Once installed, a button is added to the URL toolbar and gives you control over YouTube music and videos.  When clicked, a search box appears, awaiting your input for any video. A list is displayed with the related searches as you key in your query.

On selecting one of the suggested search results, thumbnails of all related videos open up in a popup. Clicking any thumbnail will maximizes and play your YouTube video in full-screen mode. The popup has a back and forward arrow, allowing you to navigate between pages of search results. Since videos launch in a new tab, you can select multiple ones from the thumbnails one after the other.

There must’ve been a time when you’d have been absorbed in watching some interesting movie on your computer, at the same time aware that you have other important tasks to perform as well. It may have made you wish to have a way where you can do both at the same time. Or perhaps you may have a slow download or long installation going on, that you may want to keep a tab on, but the constant back and forth movement between windows is just not worth the effort.

For such scenarios, OnTopReplica comes to the rescue. The basic function of this software is to clone any window of your choice, and display it on top of all other windows as a resizable thumbnail, effectively enabling you to watch two windows at the same time.

In the screenshot above, I have the AddictiveTips website in focus, while the movie I was watching on VLC continues to play in the small thumbnail, sized enough to remain watchable.

When installed, a pane will show up on your desktop (and a tray icon as well). Right-click the icon to configure your replicated thumbnail. You can choose which window to clone or a particular region from it, set the opacity and size of the thumbnail, choose language and control various other features.

From select window you can simply choose the window you want replicated and that’s it, if you don’t want to tamper with other settings. However, one thing to bear in mind is not to minimize the window being replicated, because that will stop the replica from being refreshed.

While the author lists every feature in detail on his website, one thing worth mentioning is the region selection in the replica. Basically this feature allows you to focus a particular region of a replica window instead of the entire window itself. It can come in handy if you want to watch a certain progress bar, for example, of an overlying window.

OnTopReplica works only with Windows Vista and 7, with Aero enabled and requires a minimum of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to work. Testing was done on Windows 7 x86 system.

ThumbWin – (Supports both Windows XP and Vista)

ThumbWin gives your minimized windows more visual information than miniMIZE. It supports Windows Vista unlike miniMIZE and also gives an option of exclusion list, so that you can disable applications that you do not want to minimize as thumbnails onto the desktop.

It also supports hotkey, arrangement method and thumbnail size but one niche feature is its fade in/ fade out effect. When a running program has been minimized to desktop as thumbnail, moving your mouse over to the thumbnail will make the image fade-in/out, which looks great.

It only makes thumbnails if you minimize applications one at a time suppose if you hit the show desktop button, no thumbnails will be created because it is necessary to actually minimize the application to make it list as thumbnails. The utility is highly customizable, letting you change the thumbnail dimensions and layout.
