For instance, if we are making a playlist of songs to listen to during a particular journey in our car, or we want to get a collection of songs together to play as background music in a party, we want to make sure that the music lasts for the whole time period and the songs are not repeated. Similarly, if you are planning a movie or TV series marathon to watch with your friends, you might want to know how long all the video files will last in order to make appropriate plans for having enough pop corns and drinks to last till the end of the session. What you can do is go to each file, check its properties, see its total running time and manually add them together to calculate the total running time, but that can turn out to be quite a time consuming and annoying task. Today, we have an application for Windows that automates the whole process and gives you the answer in an instant. PlayTime is a portable application for Windows that allows you calculate the total play time of a list of any type of music or video files. Correct / Manipulate Timestamps Of Your Files With NewFileTime

Timestamps found in the properties of files contain information regarding when the file was created, when was it modified the last time and the most recent date and time when it was accessed by someone. This allows you to quickly search, as well as group together a certain cluster of files that were created, modified, or accessed at a particular date. For instance, if you want to find a bunch of photos that were created (taken) at a particular date, or even if you just remember the month, you can set the date filters that will narrow down the search and reduce the number of results. Then, you can easily find the required set of images from the results. Previously, we reviewed dtouch, an application that let you add and subtract time from the timestamps of files and folders, but it was limited in the sense that you could not define a particular time and date to the files. NewFileTime is a portable application that takes care of this problem, and lets you change timestamps for any file or folder. The application allows you to modify Date Modified, Date Created and Date Accessed timestamps of multiple files and folders in one go. You can either set a specific time, or add and delete pre-specified time from the current timestamps. Read More

History Plus: View Chrome History By Date, Domain And Time Slot

Despite being a Chrome fan, there isn’t any denying that the Firefox History Manager is better. While both browsers save the same information as you browse web pages, Firefox actually lets users browse their history using different aspects of that saved information; you can filter history by date or by domain but Chrome just won't let you do that. Better History was a Chrome extension reviewed a while back that allowed you to sort pages in time slots but the extension only sorted the pages you visited post installation. History Plus is a Chrome extension that sorts your entire browsing history by date, time slot and by domain. Page visits to the same domain are listed in a hierarchical order. You can search history and filter results to show only pages visited today, yesterday, the previous week or last month. You can restrict it to showing only 100, 250, 500 or 1000 results when you search your history. Read More

Time Your Tasks To Perfection With Timer For Windows Phone Mango

Some people might argue that no matter how idiotic it sounds, normal phones do have a lot of advantages over smartphones. You can’t transfer data as easily to your Windows Phone 7 as you can to a dumb-phone with an SD card (you can't on iOS and Windows Phone, at least). You have lots of restrictions which were unheard of in the pre-smartphone era. There isn’t even a stock app for countdown timer and stopwatch in WP7. There have been quite a lot of good timer apps in the Marketplace for quite a while, but since Nodo did not allow its users to run apps in the background, you always had to keep the timer apps running in order for them to work properly. However, in Mango this restriction has been lifted, and you can use the new app named Timer, which is a simple countdown stopwatch that keeps running even after you quit the app. Read More
