Before you proceed, make sure that you have the target video already in the Camera Roll, as there is no option to shoot a video from within the app. From the homepage, you also get to decide how much of the selected video’s original audio you want to keep; the remaining space will be filled out by the music you choose.

After a video has been successfully loaded by YouTube Producer, the next step is to choose a background song for it. This can be done by going to the Song Select menu. You can use the Browsing Assistant if you are not sure what kind of music would go well with your clip, or there is the option to go for any of the Popular Songs. The Browsing Assistant will have you choose the desired music’s tempo, genre and mood, and based on your selection, a suitable collection of songs will be suggested. You can preview each music clip before applying it to your selected video.

Once you have done all that, YouTube Producer will let you view the end result, which you can then Upload to YouTube. Before you publish the video, you will need to add the appropriate tags and category for the clip. Once the upload is complete, you can share the video over Facebook, Twitter and via email.

For now, you wont be able to change the size of the video player, but you can easily change and play/pause the songs from the controls displayed at the bottom of the playlist. Furthermore, the controls let you change the volume and fast forward a song. Users can also access their music on the local system by clicking the Local Music option in the left panel and selecting a folder. Clicking the YouTube button in the left panel opens YouTube in a new window. Other supported services include SoundCloud and Aupeo. I’m sure that everyone who uses the internet knows about, and has visited, YouTube a lot of times. Founded in 2005, it became a lot famous in quite a short amount of time, allowing billions of users to view, as well as share, videos with a global audience. The Search button at the top allows you to search videos for playing. You can also add videos to playlists directly from the search module without having to open them. Either click the video to play it, or select Add To Playlist button to add it to a user created playlist.

Playlists can also be shared with other users of YTubePlayer from the Share Playlist button at the top. To share one, select a playlist, enter the name and click Share. The playlists shared by other users appear in the YTube Inbox accessible from the top of the main interface.

The application supports both Window and Full screen mode for viewing videos. When in full screen mode, the video resolution can be changed from the top right corner.

YTubePlayer is a bit of a memory hog and consumes around 152 MB. It works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

mkmenu, a Chrome extension, lets you quickly browse and navigate any website with a pie menu. This tool works as a context menu that provides quick access to search and navigation commands. Even though the stock YouTube app for iOS is pretty good, it does not allow users to download and save videos for offline viewing. iPhone users are not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to YouTube clients, and that is why ProTube is a welcome addition to the Cydia store. N0t only does the app have a slightly better layout, but it also lets you view and download videos in any available resolution (whereas the stock YouTube app only allows viewing in two levels of quality). In addition, you can extract the audio of any video, and save it to your device – particularly useful if you listen to music on YouTube.

ProTube’s interface is focused on making the app as easy to use as possible. Wherever you navigate to, there is the option to come back to the app’s homepage using the Home button. The app also sports forward and back buttons for easier navigation through previously viewed videos. Tapping the grid icon at the top-right displays all navigation and account options that you find on YouTube itself.

After you select a video, tapping the arrow in the top-right corner of its preview image reveals Share, Like, Dislike, and other similar options. To watch a video in a resolution of your choice, hit the button in the lower-left corner and select Stream from the options that slide up onto the screen. From the same set of options, select URL to copy the link of a video.

Even more useful than streaming videos in multiple resolutions is the option to download them. ProTube comes with a download manager of its own, which keeps track of all past downloads. Perhaps the most useful feature offered by the app is audio download. This means you can choose any video, and the app will extract its audio for you in MP3 format. As a lot of people use YouTube to listen to music, this option can prove to be a big hit among users. There is an option to import saved audio files to the stock Music library, but in the current version, it does not work (as acknowledged by the developer). You can, however, email clips to anyone, or view them using iFile.

You will find three basic options for the size in a dropdown menu, Small (240px), Medium (400px) and Large (560px). Also, you can enable/disable individual services that will be displayed in the sidebar. Furthermore, click the arrows to change the position of these services, and set the maximum number of YouTube videos from the drop-down menu. Click Save once you’re done with the settings.

The Search tab has multiple filters to search for videos to download. You can Sort the search results by Relevance, Upload Date, View Count and Rating, list videos by Upload Date from Anytime, Today, This Week and This Month, and filter out videos according to Duration, including All, Short (around 4 minutes) and Long (around 20 minutes). yMule supports multi-tab search, and can only show HD videos and search for music. To download, choose the Download format from MP3, AVI, MP4 and FLV and double click on the required video from the search results.

The video will be automatically added to the Downloads tab, where it will be converted to the required format before starting download. You can Start/Stop the download, as well as Play downloaded videos.

Preferences window can be accessed from the File menu at the top left of the main interface. It lets you specify the Download Folder, Max Parallel Downloads and default Download Quality.

The stock music player in iOS is pretty good, and this is specially owing to the fact that it links up seamlessly with iTunes and the huge collection of songs it has to offer. All songs, for which LyricPlay is available, will be listed in this section. You can play other songs in the player too, but for LyricPlay songs, more options will be displayed. As soon as you tap a song, the main player will start up, which is designed to be pretty simplistic. The controls are similar to the stock music app, but if you hit the small blue arrow next to the playing song’s name, it’s a whole new story.

In the blue arrow menu, you can stream lyrics and watch the complete bio of the artist whose song is currently being played. The most useful feature in this menu is the display of Tour Dates of the artist, which provides complete information about the time, date and ticket availability for the shows. Expected shows near your current location are also displayed. If you want, you can share a song over Twitter and Facebook right from within Shazam Player as well. Media controls, seek bar, volume control and search bar are all located at the top, while search results, recently viewed videos and related videos are listed in a panel on the left. Search results in the panel do not have thumbnail previews, and are also displayed in an iTunes library-like format just above the video viewer, complete with thumbnails. Click on any one of the results to play the video.

To search for a video, type in the search bar as you would normally type in YouTube’s search, and you will see suggestions based on trending searches.

The app has an excellent full screen view, as well. To switch to full screen, hit Command + F. You can see playback controls when you mouse over the lower part of the screen. Mouse over the top of the screen in full screen mode, and you will see search four tabs; Favorites, Search, Recent and Related. Select a tab to view videos from it, and the listed videos will appear in a horizontal panel just above the video that’s currently playing. The panel disappears when you move the mouse pointer away.

By default, the app lists 20 search results – 10 recently viewed videos and 20 related videos. You can change this from the app’s preferences.

To download a song as MP3, click Download in the System Menu Bar or hit Command + D to download the current video as MP3, but it will first require you to download YouTube to MP3 Converter by the same developer. The download feature probably isn’t what’s going to impress you, but the app’s interface, the full screen viewer and the fact that it lets you sidestep Flash and save precious battery on your laptop.

There are, no doubt, plenty of apps available for creating a video, and many of those allow you to upload your work directly to YouTube, but few offer you any video effects that aren’t there just for the sake of having a laugh. Moso is a Mac app that is altogether different; it not only comes with a large variety of graphic annotations for videos, but also has sound and custom annotations available, which means you can add text to an part of the video and have it appear for as long as you like in any order of your choosing.

The app isn’t just for making videos from spring break look funnier, or for amateur video bloggers. It allows you to add text and create an entire story line of when an effect should be applied. The app also has some pre-defined sound effects that you can add to your video, but many, if not all, are animal sounds, and aren’t of much use unless you’re going to sing Ole McDonald had a farm and upload it to YouTube (should anyone decide to do that, we’d love a link to it).

The first thing to do after installing the app is to make sure your camera is added properly. The app does auto detect webcams, but if it isn’t specifically set, the app will stop detecting the webcam after you’ve completed one recording. To add the camera, go to the Settings tab and click the Webcam button. Select a camera from the Webcam Settings dropdown, and set audio from the Mic Settings dropdown just below it. Adjust brightness, contrast and blur from the sliders on the right, and click OK to save.

Next step is to create a Storyboard, where you may choose to record a video using the webcam, or use images from your system and turn them in to a movie complete with animation effects and text. Click Storyboard and choose either Webcam, Photos & Videos or Sounds to create a new video, and drag it on to the blank bar just above the options.

If you want to add text to the video, go to Motion Text  on the Settings tab, select what kind of text you are adding and how you want it to appear. Type it in and you’re ready to start recording. Switch to the Studio tab to start making a video. Click the Record button and the app will countdown from 3 before it starts recording. You can choose to play music as a backdrop to your video, and from the effects dropdown, choose from over 27 different kinds of effects to add to your video.

Any and all text that you enter will appear on the Motion Text area just below the effects, and to make text appear on the video, select it and hit Enter.

Once you’re done annotating your video, click Stop to end recording. Review your video, and if you’re happy with what you have, post it. All videos you create can be seen in the Storage tab. To upload, select the video and click the YouTube button. Enter a title, description, chose privacy settings, enter your YouTube login and password, and click Upload.

The app has a premium version, where you can upgrade for $29.99 and enjoy video output in HD as well. For creating instructional videos, this app is exceptional.
