Giveaway: Photolamus Has Real Artists Create Amazing Caricatures Of You [Paid]

One of my favorite photo effects is the crayon or carton effect that takes my pictures and transforms them so that they look like they are posters or paintings. The thing with apps like this is that it is image manipulation and unless you take a good picture to begin with, the cartoonified version of yourself is not going to turn out all that great. The alternative would be to maybe draw something yourself and not all of us are skilled at making self-portraits. That’s where a service like PhotoIamus comes in; it a simple service that takes your pictures and creates an amazing caricature out of it. The best part is that it isn’t photo manipulation; the service takes your photo and real artists work to create a caricature of you. The end product you receive is a high resolution image (4000 x 4000px). Since there is actual human labor involved, you can guess that your caricature won’t be free. The service delivers a black and white caricature for $6.99. It has two versions of colored caricatures, a $10.99 version that has basic coloring and a $15.99 version that features more detailed coloring.

Giveaway: PhotoIamus is giving away one free caricature for our readers. Leave us a comment on this post and tell us why you want a caricature of yourself to enter the giveaway. The winner will be randomly picked. The giveaway closes on June 9, 2014 at midnight.

To order a caricature using PhotoIamus, you need to download the app. It’s currently available for OS X, iOS, and Android. The app lets you take a picture, or pick one from your camera roll to use for the sketch. It also lets you create a montage featuring more than one person (though the more people the more costly it will be) and guides you on what kind of photo to submit. You can include over four people in a single drawing and choose from different frame layouts.

The delivery time is 84 – 12 hours (3.5 days to half a day) but ordering express delivery will carry an extra charge. If you’re lost on ideas for the caricature, you can browse the gallery and view other completed orders for inspiration. Naturally, the question is, is it worth it? Browse the gallery and you’ll see that the caricatures that Photolamus makes are excellent. They make for great personal gifts and given you get a high definition image in the end, you can print and frame it. The possibilities are endless and the work is pretty awesome.
Update: The giveaway is now closed. Winner will be contacted shortly.

I would love a caricature of myself, as my wife wants one and I’m jealous.

  • Amit Chopra

Who doesn’t loves to see the funny side of themselves and their loved ones especially the wifey 🙂 This would be my first ever give away, if i win it though.

  • James

I am not sure why I would like a copy of Photolamus, I guess it must be because I am hoping that a funny caricature of myself may improve things a bit [quite a bit] [ok, LOTS!]. Perhaps with a special request they could take out all the blemishes:P
It would be great to actually use a picture of myself next to my name within comments on sites, instead of a logo design from my website.

I have been told that I have a nose that is akin in size and shape to that of the dorsal fin of a baleen whale. Even to my shagrin, I need to see this realized as a cartoon so that I can place it over my bed so that I can look at it every night and cry myself to sleep.
