We have covered a lot of applications that allow you to make incremental backups of your data. For those who are not familiar with the incremental backup technique, it checks only those files that are new, or have been modified and then copy them to the target location. This technique is not only efficient, but also reduces the time it takes to create the backup of the source folder(s). Consider yourself in a situation where you are editing multiple documents present in a folder. Now, if you create a full backup of the folder every time you make changes to one or two documents, it will surely waste a lot of your precious time, but using incremental data backup technique, you will be able to copy only modified and new documents from source to target folder. Copy Changed Files is an application for Windows that allows you to create incremental backups of your files and folders. It copies only the changed files, and offers two simple methods, namely date and time check and binary comparison for comparing the old files with the new ones. Keep reading after the break to find out more about Copy Change Files.
The application offers a simple interface with a single window to configure all the backup-related options. At the top, you can select the source folder and the destination folder along with options to append the date and time to the file names in the backup folder. The Compare type can be set, either to Binary Comparison, or Compare date-time and file size to let the application check which files to copy to target location. The Files to Copy section at the bottom allows you to include and exclude file types. You can also choose if the program Overwrites, Appends Number or Skips the file if it already exists in the destination folder. If you just want to know how many files will be copied before performing the backup operation, select Test option present alongside the Copy button at the bottom of the window. Every action performed by the application is logged. To view the log of files copied, select the Log tab from the top left. When all settings are done, click Copy to begin the copying process.
Copy Changed Files is a great way to save time in identifying the changed files from the ones that have not been modified. it works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
