Dedicated app stores are a great way to install all your apps from the same place using the exact same process but when it comes to desktop platforms, things haven’t been this way exactly. It can be quite time-consuming to download popular Windows apps from their own different sources and then individually running their installers. Furthermore, you have to keep a check on the installation process to make sure no needless bloatware makes its way to your computer unchecked. This is where Milouz Market comes to the rescue. This lightweight free app offers you quick, silent and bloatware-free installation of many popular apps without having to go through cumbersome installation procedures. Milouz Market houses a decent number of free apps in its repository, and also supports updating the ones that are already installed.
Upon first launch, the application scans all the installed programs on your PC and presents a list of applications available for download. The application matches its own repository against your existing programs in order to avoid any overwrites or redownloads. The toolbar on top lets you tinker with various available options. You can specify the download limit, instantly search for your required app from the list, get rid of potentially unwanted apps with the Cleaner feature, refresh the list, enable or disable the silent setup option, and update all existing apps to their latest versions in one go using the ‘Update all Softs ‘button.
Milouz Market has a decent number of popular apps in its arsenal including Skype, Google Chrome, MPC, Picassa, Dropbox, Audicty, Notepad++, 7Zip, Recuva and Adobe Reader, just to name a few. However, it would have been nice to have these apps categorically organized. You can learn more about any of these apps and install, update or uninstall them individually the buttons provided for each app in its row.
The search bar comes in handy to instantly find your desired program from the list. In addition, the speed limiter helps you balance the bandwidth use between Milouz Market and other programs running on your computer that require internet access.
The application also supports running multiple tasks multiple tasks in batch. The tasks are queued as you keep downloading, updating or uninstalling apps; the one that’s currently in progress shows up with a red background, while the ones pending in the queue are switched to yellow. You can temporarily pause the batch operation using the Pause button at the top, though there’s currently no way to permanently stop the batch, which is one of the very few shortcomings of Milouz Market. If you enable Silent Setup, the downloaded application end up installed at the default Program Files folder on your Windows installation partition. Disabling this feature lets you manually perform the installation setup and optionally choose a custom destination folder.
When a task finishes, the application displays push notification near the system tray to help you keep track of app installation, updates and uninstallation.
Milouz Market is an excellent tool to download and install your favorite Windows applications from a single place. It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Both 32-bit and 64-bit OS editions are supported.
