Back in June we reviewed MS Security Essentials when it was in beta. Today, Microsoft plans to remove the beta tag and make it available to the public. Yes, you will finally be able to download the free antivirus from Microsoft later today.
The launch of Microsoft’s free antivirus has not made other antivirus manufacturers happy, especially Norton which believes that free antivirus is not what customers should go for.
Like I mentioned in the review that MS Security Essentials detected a virus that NOD32 failed to detect, this shows how far Microsoft has come into antivirus space. The launch of Microsoft’s own antivirus will surly not make major 3rd party vendors happy, but for customers it is a good deal.
If you can’t wait to get your hands on the free antivirus from Microsoft, hit the link below and grab it now.
The download will be available by end of the day, so keep checking back. The download is available now. It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Enjoy!
