Extract And Recover iPhone Data From iTunes Backup

After your iTunes syncs with the iPhone, it keeps a separate backup files which contains all your data, photos, contacts, calendar, sms messages, recordings, videos, voicemails, notes, and call history. These files are not readable and if you want to recover the data in readable format, you will need a tool like iPhone Backup Extractor.

It is not necessary to have an iPhone connected to your PC when using this tool because it simply finds the iTunes backup of your previously synced iPhone and extracts it in one click. Very useful if you have lost your iPhone device but need to recover the data.

Before you extract data from any backup, it lists the number of backups that were found in default folder, which is:

C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

It will also list down the most important details of your iPhone, which is, device model, serial, firmware, time when backup was saved, IMEI, and Status.

Note: You must register and buy the tool for $24.95 before you can extract all data in one go. Otherwise the free version is limited to extraction of two records only.

We couldn’t find any free alternative to this tool that comes without any restrictions for Windows, but we were able to find a similar but less user-friendly tool for Mac which is free called iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor.

Let’s say that I send an sms message on Monday and delete it that same Monday. After I’ve deleted this message, I go and sync my iPhone with iTunes on Tuesday. Will the message I deleted on Monday be on the backup that I synced on Tuesday?

      No

Obviously not if you never synced your phone during the time you had that message.

Oh my GOSH! I upgraded to iOS about 5 days ago and LOST about 20 “keeper” voice mails I would’ve paid lots of money to get back! I called AT&T AND Apple and neither one could help me retrieve these precious voice mails. Well, I just downloaded the free MAC Backup Extractor and thank God, there are my voice mails. And with the newest Real Player version, I can save these to my iPod or even email them!!!
I know this sounds like I was paid to say this stuff, but honestly, I was DISTRAUGHT to say the least, as I thought these were lost for good.
If you’ve lost voice mails you wanted to keep when you got iOS, do this. It is a MIRACLE!!

sad story – wonder if it can be fixed. I just came back from a holiday and have pictures on my friends iphone (600+). when I went to connect it to my laptop an icon came up and it said “restore…..blah blah…” and I stupidly pressed yes. I realised it was taking forever and disconnected the phone and then went to look at the pictures on my friends iphone and several had been erased and replaced with the backed up images from my iphone. i’d say approx 600 of my old images were put on the phone wiping at least 400 from the new holiday. Obviously theses images had not been backed up because we only returned yesterday =[ I’m finding it hard to believe the 400+ pics have disappeared for good and am wondering if there is any software to recover them from the iphone although they wern’t actually deleted, but replaced. PLEASE HELP.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! This works! I updated my iPhone 4 to the latest ios the other day and all of my saved voicemails from my mother (who passed away last year) were deleted. I was devastated! I was on the phone with AT&T and Apple for an hour and a half and they said they were impossible to get back. I took things into my own hands and started googling (what else?) and found this article. I got ALL of my voicemails back! I followed the directions in the article and it worked like a charm. Now I am going to back them up and burn them onto a cd to be safe since they are stored on my computer now. I am SO thankful for this download. Thank you!!!!!!

I tried Total Saver instead. Costs much less and is easier to use. Does the same job!

What about Dr.Fone? You may recover lost data from iTunes backup on both Mac and Windows easily.
