Extract Text From Protected PDF Documents

Sometimes PDF documents are protected so that people cannot copy the text. If you have come across any such restricted PDF document and need to copy the text, then the best way is to extract it using text extractors.

Recently I came across A-PDF Text Extractor, a free tool that extracts the text from restricted PDF documents. Just hit Open and choose the PDF file from which you need to extract the text.

It will then list the number of pages in that document, hit Extract, choose the output destination(where the extracted text file will be saved), and hit Save. Once the extraction is complete, open the text file to view the result.

You can choose which pages you want to extract by going to Options. There are three types of extraction – In PDF Order, Smart Rearrange, and With Position.

At first the output was not clear, but later I changed the Extract Type to In PDF Order and the output was surprisingly accurate(just what I was expecting). Go ahead and give this free little tool a shot.

It works on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Enjoy!
