SkyAlbum Photo Gallery Builder is a free photo tool for Windows that allows user to create high quality flash photo galleries. Unlike other tools, it is fully customizable when it comes to editing and organizing photos. So why use this tool instead of using some other tool for the same purpose? Because it has more broader options and features that you won’t generally find elsewhere, and best of all it is free.
It has a total of three steps, Select Photos, Add Themes, and Publish. We have covered each of them in details below.
Once you install this tool, you will start by selecting the photos first. Just browse to the desired folder from the left sidebar, select the photos from the main window, and click Add/Add All in the timeline window.
Once photos have been added to the Timeline window, you can edit the photos by double-clicking it or by selecting it and clicking Edit button. You can also change the transition of the photo by clicking the Transition button once.
In the Editing window you will find three tabs – Info, Text, and ArtClip. The info tab allows you to change the basic information such as, name, url, description, and transition effects, the text tab allows you to add in-photo texts in different formats and designs, and the ArtClip tab allows you to add any custom image art inside the photo.
Once you have added all photos, click Theme tab on top of the application to move to second step. Here you can select different themes from the Category drop-down list in the right sidebar.
Apart from adding some default themes, you can also fully customize the look. To do so, click Customize Properties and then edit out the desired settings.
Another interesting feature is that it allows you to add any background music to the slideshow. Click the ‘+’ sign and add your favorite music that are in either mp3, wma, or wav formats. There is also an option to “Extract from CD”, which will extract the music from the CD and add them to the slideshow.
After you are done with themes, click Publish tab to go to third and final step. Here you are given three options – either you can create a flash file, burn the slideshow to the CD/DVD, or upload the slideshow to SkyAlbum website.
Once you have selected the desired option, click Publish Now button. To see how the output looks like, check out the custom Firefox flash photo gallery that I made using this tool, here.
It is a relatively new tool but was very stable during my testing, every step worked seamlessly. It works on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Enjoy!
