It looks like everyone’s been talking about Instagram these days. Seldom it happens that an app or service creates this much hype, but this iOS and Android app has surely earned its crown in the world of mobile photography. If you have been following us for a while, then you must know that back in April, we took an in-depth look at Instagrille for Pokki – an extremely handy and gorgeous application that let you view your Instagram photos without opening your web browser or resorting to a smartphone. The application has received a major update, providing users with more options and making this fantastic app even better. Should you unaware of it, Instagrille is a Windows application equivalent of the mobile Instagram app (well to some extent, of course), which facilitates you in following your Instagram feeds. You can check the popular Instagram photos just like you’d do in the mobile app, and comment or love the photos. Lets check out what the update brought to us in terms of design and features.
The interface seems to be slightly changed than before, and all for the better. The tabs to navigate between the application are now placed at the top, and the blue bar at top is replaced with a white one. The obvious addition here is the Nearby section, which lets you view photos that have been snapped and shared over the popular photo-sharing network in your proximity – a nice feature to get to know what people have been sharing near to your current location. You can access Nearby even without signing in to Instagram, as that only makes use of your current coordinates and not the Instagram credentials.
Another option that left us wanting in the previous version, was that it won’t allow you to download any image. To our delight, the developers have finally thrown in a download option as well. Downloading the image is quite simple; when you open a photo, hover you mouse pointer over it to reveal the Download Image button. Click it, choose the target directory and you’re done. Although this new feature is warmly welcomed, it would have been even nicer to have a batch download option.
Overall, the updated version is simply fascinating. It should be noted that Instagrille is a Pokki app, which also gets installed along with Instargille when you download the application. It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
