Internet Information Server (IIS) is a well known web server, if you are a web developer and are working on some Microsoft development tool then you will definitely have experience with it. The steps to install ISS in Windows 7 are true for Windows Vista as well.
First of all go to Control Panel and click the Programs option, then locate and click the Turn Windows features on or off option.
It will take some time to populate the Windows Features dialogue box, once done expand the Internet Information Services node. Now make sure to check the two options Web Management Tools and World Wide Web Services.
Now click the OK button and it will take some time to apply these changes.
That’s it, now open your favorite browser and type localhost in the address bar. You will find IIS running.
