MP3 has become a common format for listening to, or editing, various audio and music files. There are many applications available out there that provide you with all types of audio editing tools under one umbrella, but they come with a hefty price tag. However, if you were looking for a free software solution that could let you perform numerous audio editing operations over MP3 files, then give MP3 toolkit a shot. The application includes a total of 6 Mp3 file editing tools including MP3 Converter, CD to MP3 Ripper, MP3 Tag Editor, MP3 Merger, MP3 Cutter and MP3 Recorder. Using the toolkit, you can easily convert your Mp3 files into formats compatible with portable audio players, create ringtones, edit and fix meta tags, rip audio CDs, record audio and merge audio streams into a single MP3 file. The application has all the available tools placed at the left side of the window. When you hover the mouse pointer over the tool, it shows you the preview along with a brief description.
MP3 Converter lets you batch convert your audio files into various different formats like MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AC3, AAC, AMR, MPG etc. You can add files or complete music folder using the corresponding buttons on the toolbar. Some of the settings that you can configure include; Bitrate (kbps), Rate (Hz), Audio Channel and Output Folder.
Also included in the toolkit is CD to MP3 Ripper, MP3 Tag Editor and MP3 Merger. The MP3 merger allows you to configure merge settings before joining all the specified Mp3 files.
You can also split or cut your audio files using the built-in MP3 Cutter. To cut an mp3 file, add your source file and then select the Start and End position of the audio portion that you want to extract, by using their corresponding buttons at the bottom of the window. When you’re done, hit Save to store the output in MP3, WAV, WMA or AMR format.
MP3 Recorder enables you to record and save audio output in MP3 format. You can change Sample Rate, Bit Rate and (audio) Channels of the output, as well as output directory, before starting the recording process.
MP3 Toolkit is without any doubt, one of the very powerful and feature rich applications to edit MP3 files. It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Testing was carried out on Windows 7 64-bit edition.
