Who doesn’t want to land their dream job? Though even if you’ve got what it takes to be the right person for the job, the HR recruiters won’t likely bother giving you a chance if your resume doesn’t speak for itself, and many of us overlook the importance of a resume in this regard. A good resume results in an excellent first impression and provides a better chance to the recruiters for analyzing your professional value. Most recruiters simply skim through job applications while discarding unprofessionally prepared resumes to save their own time. If you want to quickly create a resume or CV that gives you an edge by making an impression on the HR department the moment they start going through it, try giving Career Igniter Resume Builder a shot. It’s a Windows application that enables you to create a professional resume in a few simple steps, and also allows you to save the output as a DOC file.
The wizard-based interface of the tool helps you with designing each part of the resume. Generally, a good resume contains contact information of the applicant, their objective, education history, any extra certifications that they hold, past work experience, skills possessed and references that can vouch for them. Resume Builder offers fields for all this information; all you have to do is enter the relevant details under each tab, and click Next until you reach the final step. You start with entering your personal details including as name, residential address and contact information, in the Contact Information section.
Up next, you can add your educational details for up to three different qualifications. What’s more, you may also enter any miscellaneous certifications that you have earned while studying or working.
Up next comes the Work Experience, with sections for up to three past employers. After that, just jot down your skills and input any references that might aid the recruiters with analyzing your work persona. Once you have entered all the needed details, click Save Resume under References tab and select the output directory to store the DOC file.
The screenshot below demonstrates a sample resume which I made using the Career Igniter Resume Builder. Since the end file is in DOC format, you can always add additional details later on in your favorite word processor that supports the format.
Resume Builder works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Testing was carried out on Windows 8 Pro, 64-bit edition.
