I have the black screen crap! All I have to say is windows sucks!!! I used my repair disc after trying everything in the book and after long Internet searching. I got it to work for a day!! Computer was really slow and then it came back to the famous black screen. I have had it. So now I’m in the factory default software mode! Crash mode I think! I’m starting back from fresh out the box mode! Beats paying hundreds of dollars! Windows 7 sucks!!

I’ve had the same problem, but i had a scareware, i removed it and did the iExplore.exe thingy, and did a system restore to last week, but i got the black screen, and i did it to a later time (9th) and still, i undid the restores and im just fine, im scanning with malware antibytes as of now

Thanks, it worked for me changing the display settings. I use 2 monitors, and it seams that it stop recognizing one of them…

I had the same problem – none of the online fixes worked. I reinstalled Windows 7. When the system restarted a pop-up message appeared stating, “.NET Framework Version 4 needs to be repaired” — automatically the repair took place – and (so far) I am black to normal.

My mom has this BlackSOD…..but I can still get to it from LogMeIN……and see her mouse move. But she can’t see ANYTHING….not the mouse….nothing. WTH?

Black screen is a disgusting …, I had to save my data conecting the hard disk in another pc. After that, re-install windows xp. But, as soon I saw the desktop of win,after process of setting , I installed fixshell tool, which fixed the problem.
Windows runs again !!!
But now, I have to repair wrong display settings XD.
The things is, where the problem persist? on mother board or in a boot sector of hard disk?
Can anyone tell me how the bug operates on hardware level?

I too have got the Black Screen of Death. However, I can get into task manager Ctr Alt Del and run explorer.exe from there which gives me full use in both safe mode and normal. I’m at a loss as it’s cause. I’ve checked for malware etc and all comes clean.
I’m trying out a few “fixes” I’ve found on the net but I’m not holding out for a quick solution I may need to re-install.

Some people are saying this is a problem with the computer not being able to find the hard drive. First thing I would do is change the bios, auto detect the hard drive then save it most of the computers I have had used to have a settinig for that or the newer ones just press enter on the drive and it auto detects. If that does not work make shure it's off then crack the case and diconect the hard drive and reboot then swich it off after a minuit or two then reconect the hard drive and reboot. If that doesent work then you will have to reinstall windows or get a new drive. Oh one thing I forgot make shure you don have a cd or dvd in

I just haven't found any threads that apply to my situation.

On boot up it goes to the ksod, nothing works, no ctrl alt del, no task maaager (so prevx solution doesnt appy), cant login nothing. (only sleep button lol)

How bout safe mode? Nope. same deal so none of those solutions apply.
Right now all i can do is try my system repair disk and try to fix the problem, being a registry bug maybe?
