FileBox exTender is a free utility for Windows that adds additional features to every top-level windows. You can call it an add-on for Windows Explorer. There are three main features of this app – Favorites, Push-Pin, and Roll-Up. We have discussed them in details below.
Favorites
Favorites is used to add your favorite files and folders so that they can be easily accessible from anywhere. When you install this tool for the first time, you will see the main window where you can add your favorite items to the list.
These items can be accessed quickly by clicking Favorites button in Windows Explorer title bar.
Another way to access the favorites along with Recent Folder history is to click the system-tray icon once and select from the context-menu.
To open the FileBox eXtender main window again, hit Configure or right-click the system tray icon and hit Open.
You can not only add more items to the list, but also configure broad set of options.
Push-Pin
Push-Pin is used to Pin a top-level windows. It prevents the window you pin to the desktop from getting covered by any other windows. Comes useful when you need to work on two windows simultaneously. In other words, it acts like ‘Always On Top’ feature.
Roll-Up
Roll-Up button can roll-up your windows, only making the title bar visible. Clicking this button again will roll back your windows to it’s original state.
FileBox eXtender is not a new tool at all and was long thought that it will cease further development because it is not supported anymore, but the latest versions adds some more enhanced features and additional options. Among the new features is support for Firefox browser, compatibility fixes for 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7, and additional options in Settings tab.
It works on all versions of Windows, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available. Enjoy!
