Every user should scan his computer against rootkits. Hackers install rootkits to seize control of the operating system. GMER is a small utility designed to detect and remove rootkits.
It can scan for hidden process, hidden threads, hidden modules, hidden services, hidden files, hidden Alternate Data Streams, hidden registry keys, drivers hooking SSDT, drivers hooking IDT, drivers hooking IRP calls, and inline hooks.
I tried running on Windows 7 64-bit OS but it failed to work, it might work on 32-bit but have not been tested. Officially it supports Windows Vista, Windows XP, and all older version of Windows.
