Semper Driver Backup is a driver backup application for backing up system drivers and restoring them later. What makes Semper a bit different from other driver backup applications (such as Double Drivers) is that it provides easier driver identification and installation, by creating a single source driver folder containing all driver files and not just the setup files. The operating system is also alerted of this folder by Semper, so that there are no conflicts for the identification of the backup folder. Furthermore, it provides a prompt for drivers which may not have successfully backed up and displays a log file at the end of the completion of a restoration process to help you determine if any driver was not properly loaded. This can help save valuable time troubleshooting faulty drivers.
When you start Semper Driver Backup, it automatically scans your system for available drivers and displays a list in an easy to read format. Additional details provided with the driver list include, the system name and the driver folder. To backup your drivers click on Backup Drivers.
This will backup your drivers to the specified backup folder. The first time you attempt to backup your drivers, you will be prompted to select a folder for backing up the data. If you would like to change this location later on, you can do so from Configuration –> Select Driver Folder.
You can import your drivers anytime from the backup file by clicking on the Import Drivers button. Semper Driver Backup has both a free and paid version, the Enterprise version provides additional options which can be handy for system administrators, such as, drive collection from a remote system and via a login script.
After the importing procedure is complete, you are displayed with a log file containing the details about the importing process. In case you would like to schedule the update of your drivers on a periodic basis, check out the previously reviewed SlimDrivers.
Semper Driver Backup works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
