I don’t usually cover many backup tools like other bloggers out there, but sometimes few tools are too good to not get coverage at all. Hey don’t get me wrong, I am just saying that my taste is different. I have settled on FileMyster because it is simply addictive and too awesome to miss, but recently I came across another tool called SimpleBackup. Just like its name suggests, it is dead-simple. There is no advanced configuration, no UI, and no data management is required.
During installation it will ask for the destination to save the program, and also the destination where you want your files to be backed up. Here you can select a remote location or any location in the external drive as well.
Now all you have to do next is to right-click the file or folder that you want to backup and select SimpleBackup from the context menu. You can also backup multiple files or folder in one go.
This tool is actually composed of .Bat scripts and registry keys. To remove the entry from the context menu, you will have to visit the installation folder and hit the Uninstall.bat file.
It works on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Also check out Windows 7 default backup and restore feature. Enjoy!
