SmartScreen Filter In Internet Explorer 8

SmartScreen Filter is one of the greatest security measures in Internet Explorer 8 which protects you from phishing attacks, online fraud, and spoofed websites, as well as websites that distribute malicious software.

What is SmartScreen Filter

SmartScreen Filter is the advanced form of the Phishing Filter which was available in Internet Explorer 7. It is designed to warn you if the website which you are visiting is impersonating another website or if it contains threats to you computer. Therefore, it plays a critical role in keeping you safe online.

Enable/Disable SmartScreen Filter

In order to enable or disable this feature you can go through the following simple steps. First launch Internet Explorer and go to the Safety option, here you will see the SmartScreen Filter option.

Now in order to enable or disable it, just click the drop down menu which is available next to this option and Turn Off SmartScreen Filter if it is enabled or Turn On Smart Screen Filter if it is disabled.

Turn Off On SmartScreen Filter That’s it.

    Smartscreen filter always disables itself. I turn it on and it stays on. Then I close and reopen Internet explorer version 8. Now it is off. Why does it turn itself off? I prefer not to use my real name in the subjet line of this inquiry.
