Recently I was trying to find a software that can help collaborate a document with my co-worker over local network. The problem was that one was using Windows Vista while other was using Windows 7. I got an email from SupportSmith about their free TeamUp Light software and finally planned to give it a try. You don’t need to create an account to use it, all it requires is that you install the software on all computers where you want to collaborate the files or desktop.
The application allows you to collaborate both the files and desktop over LAN(Local Area Network). Just right-click it’s system tray icon and select Work with a Colleague.
Now select the file, document or desktop that you want to collaborate with your co-worker, enter the computer name or IP address, and hit Share.
However, there are two downsides – the main application window opens after taking a very long time in Windows 7 and Windows 8, and you cannot collaborate the files over the internet. Otherwise it is one great collaboration app.
It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Both 32-bit and 64-bit are supported. If you are looking to remote control any computer, then try LogMeIn. Enjoy!
