Torrent Magnifier – Desktop Torrent Search Engine For Windows

Torrent Magnifier is a free desktop torrent search tool for Windows which was first released in July, 2009. For some reason it managed to stay out of our radar for a long time. It is developed by Vangos, a student of Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Informatics in his free time.

Torrent Magnifier has a web interface, a desktop client, a Windows 7/Vista gadget, and an IE8 Accelerator. The web interface doesn’t have a catchy URL, while nobody would want to use Internet Explorer 8 accelerator. So all that is left is a great desktop application and Windows Gadget which can search for torrents quickly.

Simply type in any keyword, hit Search, and it will show you the torrents along with the number of seeds, leech, and trackers. Hit Go link which is given next to each torrent to visit the torrent page.

The Windows Gadget works in a similar way but you have to click the torrent to visit the page.

Both the Desktop app and the Windows Gadget have minimal UI design that consists nothing except a simple powerful torrent search engine. Thankfully it is not filled with bloatware, adware, or any other sort of crapware. Be warned, you will get hooked with this app.

The desktop app takes around 32Mb of system memory and works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. The Windows Gadget works on Windows 7/Vista only. Enjoy!
