Best Yify Proxy Torrents And Mirrors

Torrent sites like Yify are frequently the targets of takedowns by governments and copyright holders, but you can still download your favorite content with these proxies and mirror sites. Of course, you also need to stay safe when torrenting, so we’ll also help you get started with the best VPN that balances speed and anonymity for truly secure downloads.

Yify, also known as YTS torrents now, is one of the biggest, most popular torrenting websites globally. A one-shop stop for excellent content at smaller sizes, including all the latest movies, music, and videos, it’s no wonder the number of Yify users keeps increasing and returning. However, as a torrenting website, it’s always in danger of being shut down for copyright infringement. Luckily for you, there are many proxies and mirror sites available to help you retain access to all the movies, shows, and videos that you love.

Before you search for Yify alternatives, protect yourself with a torrent-friendly VPN:

  1. NordVPNBest for Torrenting – NordVPN’s specially optimized P2P servers enable secure torrenting and outstanding speed. Dodge copyright trolls and ISP throttling with NordLynx encryption, backed by zero logging.
  2. Surfshark – Our favorite new-school VPN, with automatic provisions that take care of advanced configuration for secure torrenting.
  3. ExpressVPN – Your best bet when high network speeds are a priority. Dial in your downloads with the built-in speed test.
  4. CyberGhost – Want the easy way? Click “torrent anonymously” and let your VPN take care of the rest.
  5. PrivateVPN – Want more hands-on control? Configure your encryption for the right balance of speed and security.
  6. PureVPN – Highly capable all-rounder with access to more countries than any other.

In this guide, we’re going to start by touching briefly on why you should always use a VPN when you torrent and give you our suggestions for the best VPNs to use. Then, we’ll provide you with a linked list of the best, (currently) working proxies and mirror sites. Finally, we’ll talk about how to use a VPN with Yify to stay safe and secure.

Before torrenting, get a VPN

Before we begin, it’s crucial to say this: always use a VPN when you torrent.

For years now, torrenting sites have attracted the attention of copyright trolls and lawyers from Hollywood studies and TV networks. Many torrenting websites, including the original form of Yify, have been shut down as a result – but these legal troubles can impact users, as well.

Since your ISP can “see” what you do online, they can track and keep record of your activity. Do a quick Google search, and you’ll find plenty of examples of torrent users who have gotten legal notices, had their internet connection severed by their ISP, or been dealt fines and more. If you connect to the internet through a VPN first, though, all your activity – and your identity – becomes hidden in a protective “wrap” of encryption, making it nearly impossible to trace your torrenting back to you.

Disclaimer: We don’t condone breaking the law here at Addictive Tips. Downloading torrents is a public act that opens your IP address up to being traced by copyright holders, which can lead to users being identified and prosecuted for breaching copyright laws, including fines or prison time.

Qualities to look for

Once you admit the need for a VPN, you can start looking – or can you? There’s a lot of providers and even more information out there. So before you run off, take a look at some qualities we put together to keep an eye out for. We didn’t just pull these out of a hat, either – these are tested qualities that only the best VPNs will have.

  • Privacy provisions – One of the biggest reasons to get a VPN is to keep your identity and activity hidden. Strong encryption, with DNS leak protection and automatic kill switch, does that.
  • Speed – VPNs have a reputation for slowing down internet speeds for reasons related to the last quality. When you’re downloading and streaming, this is the last thing you want. All of these VPNs have been tested and shown worthy.
  • Network size – A large network gives you more options. Having trouble with one server? Switch to another. Or another.
  • Logging policy – Part-and-parcel with encryption, any records maintained on your activity could be pulled – so a strict zero-logging policy should be a non-negotiable.

Top VPNs to stay safe while using Yify torrents

With that out of the way, these are the VPNs we suggest most highly if you plan on using Yify, any of its proxies or mirrors, or any torrent site for that matter.

NordVPN is a true industry titan, with a network spanning over 5,500 servers in 58 countries and counting. NordVPN has a lot of appeal to power users, with advanced settings capable of blasting past the toughest geo-blocks and other firewalls. Just one aspect of this is their specialty servers. With a big network of more than 3,000 servers across 94 countries, ExpressVPN has plenty of servers available to you. 4. CyberGhost

CyberGhost is perfect for beginners right from the get-go. Installation is fast and easy, and on launching the app you get a colorful, minimalist display. From here, it stays easy to use – you’re presented with 6 preset profiles, and when you click on one you get the best settings for that use-case. One of these is labelled “Torrent Anonymously”, giving it the best settings for using Yify. But if you’re interested in using your VPN for other cases, you can also surf anonymously, unblock streaming and basic websites, protect your Wi-Fi connection, and choose your server – each with a single click.

For extra security – important when torrenting – you can turn simple toggles on for each profile and block malicious websites, ads, and online tracking, as well as compress data, automatically redirect to HTTPS, and boost your speed. And speaking of security, CyberGhost offers you 256-bit AES encryption, connection guard, and automatic kill switch, too.

5. PrivateVPN

PrivateVPN is another excellent, Yify-friendly VPN. Its first major advantage is that it allows anonymous torrenting and welcomes P2P users. Other services can try to cap your speed or ban your account if you use torrents, but this isn’t the case with PrivateVPN. Moreover, the service has a number of features optimized for P2P applications. You get unlimited bandwidth, speed, and server switches, meaning you can download as much as you want without worrying about running out of traffic. The service allows for up to 6 simultaneous connections so you can torrent on multiple devices – or use some of your other connections for streaming, gaming, or work and leisure. The SOCKS5 technology means you can even torrent from China, and a port forward service guarantees you can connect to PrivateVPN; even if you’re behind a state-of-the-art office firewall.

In addition to being perfect for torrent users and Yify, PrivateVPN is stellar on basic features. The server network spans around 150 servers in 60+ countries, so you can choose to digitally relocate to a number of countries that don’t prosecute P2P users. Encryption protocols include OpenVPN’s UDP and TCP, which blend speed and security, as well as the fast L2TP for when you need to download files quickly. The zero-logging policy is comprehensive enough that nobody can reliably trace you based on your PrivateVPN usage data. There’s even a free remote setup that helps install PrivateVPN’s apps on your desktop if you’re not sure how to.

6. PureVPN

There are two reasons to use a VPN with Yify torrent. One is to hide your identity from your Internet Service Provider, the government, and corporations that may try to take legal action against you. Another is to overcome geoblocking filters in countries like China and Saudi Arabia so you can enjoy the content you want freely. Fortunately, PureVPN can help you in both departments. If you want a foreign IP, you’ll be glad to know that PureVPN has over 2,000 nodes in 140+ countries. This means you can access Yify from virtually any IP you want, overcoming any blocks and filters put in place by your employer, the government, or Internet Service Providers.

Additionally, PureVPN can help you stay safe while you’re torrenting from Yify. The core security feature is 256-bit encryption, which is so tough that not even a supercomputer can crack it with any regularity. In addition to that, PureVPN has a tough no-logging policy that stops any of your important data (e.g. browsing history and your real IP) from getting stored. There’s even a proprietary feature called Ozone that continues to protect your data, device, and identity when you’re offline. Last but not least, there’s a number of extra features available to desktop users. One of these is a kill switch that stops data from leaving your computer if your VPN connection drops. Another is split tunneling, wherein you can torrent through your VPN connection and do everything else through your regular ISP connection. All in all, PureVPN’s security and large server network make it a top choice for Yify and torrenting in general.

Best Yify proxies and mirror sites

As of writing, the primary Yify torrents site (yts.am) is up and running. But as alluded to earlier, the lifespan of any torrenting site is limited. In 2015, the original Yify Torrents site was shut down completely. Today, the primary Yify site is a clone of that one – and it has experienced problems that result in it going offline on occasion. So far, it has always come back online.

But given the nature of torrenting websites, it’s always good to have a backup plan in case of these shutdowns. Even with a VPN, if the primary Yify site is taken down, you’ll need a mirror or proxy. As of writing, all of the following sites are working:

How to use Yify with a VPN

Since you should use a VPN before you start torrenting, it pays to know how to do so. Good news is – it’s easy. Just follow these quick steps:

  1. Pick a VPN provider and visit their web page (we recommend one of the 5 above). Once there, sign up on their “plans” page and fill out the info requested.
  2. Now that you’re signed up, download and install the VPN application to your chosen device. If you’re using a mobile device, may have to download the app from your device’s app store (i.e. Android’s Google Play Store, etc.). Follow the link directly from your VPN provider to avoid any fakes.
  3. Next, open your web browser and visit ipleak.net. The page will automatically run an IP address lookup, which is displayed in a box near the top. Take note of your IP address (the digits near the top of the box).
  4. Now launch your VPN app and sign in using the credentials you made when you signed up. Most VPNs will automatically connect you to the fastest server available.
  5. Once the connection to the VPN server has resolved (usually within a few moments), open your web browser back up and visit ipleak.net again. The IP address should have changed. If it hasn’t, return to your VPN try reconnecting to the same or a different server.
  6. Once you’ve confirmed that your IP address has changed and you’re connected to your VPN – you’re good to start torrenting. Just go to the official site or one of the proxies or mirrors and enjoy.

Use anti-virus software

In the early 2000’s it was harder to tell what you were getting before you downloaded it. Nowadays, it’s much easier. If you’re using yts.am or its reputable proxies/mirrors, you shouldn’t run into many problems. But it pays to be safe.

When you download a torrent, you’re virtually connected to all the other people who have downloaded it. If any of them have malware or a virus, your device may get infected as a result. To avoid this, we recommend these tips:

Install anti-virus software

First of all, install anti-virus software. This will defend your computer, running in the background and scanning every file you open. If/when it finds a virus, it quarantines it and destroys and malicious code. Good ones also perform periodic deep scans.

There are free and paid ones. For free anti-virus, PCMag recommends Avast and AVG.

Stay updated

Keeping all your devices’ software updated can help protect you against viruses, too. Software bugs have been used to take control of computers, but security experts work hard to identify these bugs and correct them for the next update so hackers can’t take advantage of them. So if you have the latest security updates downloaded, this is less likely to happen.

Yify and the shutdown

Started by a 23-year-old app developer named Yiftach Swery, YTS quickly became a leader of the torrenting industry and attracted the attention of high-level authorities. One day in 2015, without warning or explanation Yify disappeared. No one could access it, and no one knew what had happened.

After a few days, the mystery began to resolve: an anti-piracy lawsuit had been filed against YTS and Swery by a New Zealand movie studio, MPAA. After some time, the parties involved removed the case from court and signed a private settlement.

Very little was explained of the whole deal, but Swery is reported to have said,

“I always in my mind and to my peers said ‘As soon as someone properly asks you to stop, you stop and walk away from it’. This is essentially how it all played out.”

New age of Yify

Although the original Yify and its handlers were removed – and have remained so – new teams soon started up a clone of the former, along with its proxies and mirrors. They’re sill unknown, but content continues to be made available in small size, with good video quality.

If you’re interested in using Yify proxy torrents and mirror sites, give the ones we listed here a try. As of writing, the primary site is still up, but that can quickly change. With this guide, you’ve got a large enough list of proxies and mirrors to torrent your favorite shows, movies, music, and more far into the future.

Have you used Yify proxy torrents or mirror sites? What have your experience with proxies, mirrors, and the primary YTS website been? Tell us about them in the comments below.
