Among the plethora of useful features of Windows, it provide an easy way of switching between opened programs via the use of Alt + Tab key, which helps in instant navigation. Although, it has been around for a while, Microsoft opted for another alternative route for switching or peeking at your opened programs, in Windows Vista and then Windows 7. Microsoft named it as Windows Flip 3D and this function can be triggered by using Win + Tab key. Flip 3D (as the name implies) gives you a 3D preview of running applications, and lets you cycle through them via your mouse scroller. Not only is it quite robust, but also looks damn good. Even if your watching a video, it is rendered in real-time in Flip 3D. Even though launching Flip 3D via the Win + Tab key is quite easy, however if you find this hotkey combination to be somewhat tiring, try out FlipCorner. It is a portable application that lets you enter the 3D preview mode by moving your cursor to a corner of your computer screen. The good thing is that you can set the corner of your choice, change the activation delay and define the size of reaction area to enable the function. Read on to find how it actually works.
The application itself is super-light with a very minimalistic interface design. After installation, the application will sit in system tray. The foremost task you’d need to do is right-click its notification icon and choose Configure to set up and activate the application. It’s worth mentioning that you can select a single or more corners to activate the 3D preview mode. Thea application also let you set Reaction Area to define the area on each corner that can activate the function – you need to drag the pixels slider left or right to adjust it accordingly. The last this is the Activation Delay i.e. the time between which you need to keep the mouse cursor in a corner to enable the 3D preview mode. You may also mark Start with Windows to automatically launch the after logging in to the Windows. Once settings are configured, click OK to apply your changes.
Now, whenever you will move your mouse cursor to the defined corner, and within the specified time delay limit, the 3D preview mode will automatically get activated.
FlipCorner works on Windows Vista and Windows 7, provided you have Windows Aero enabled.
