MESee Lite – Free Photo Management & Encryption Software

MESee Lite is a free app that allows users to manage, filter, and encrypt their photos. You can create new album, a new class, and rate images. This allows you to later find your photos quickly and also allows you to filter out the images fast.

The most interesting feature is that you can encrypt your private photos that you don’t want others to see. Personally I hate it when others check out my family or personal photos without permission.

To begin encrypting the photos, you will have to first create a new database. First hit the DB tab and then click Create. Before creating a new database, make sure the current default database is deleted.

photo database

Now in the Create Database dialog box, enter the database path as shown in the screenshot below, make sure the encrypt checkbox is checked, and select the encryption type.

Note: Since the free version of this program allows users to create only one database, it is already created by default. You have to first delete it and then create a new one. To create a new database you will have to enter the default path in which the demo database resides. The reason we are creating a new database is that it allows us to set our own password.

Create Database

Next, it will ask you to enter the password, do it and hit OK. Now the database will be created an listed under Closed DB. To start encrypting the images we will have to first open this database. To do so, select it and hit Open.

Opening Database

Now go back to managing your photos by hitting Dir(Directory) tab. Here right-click any image and select Add To Private DB > [Database destination].

add image to database

A new dialog box will appear, hit Start and it will begin encrypting the image. You can encrypt multiple images too. Now once the images are encrypted they will be listed under the Database.

Opened Database

Now you can safely close the database and delete the original images. The copy will be saved securely in the encrypted database. To recover the files, first open the database, right-click images and select Copy To from the context menu. In the Copy To Dialog box enter the destination where you want to extract the images.

Extract Photos From Database

It is indeed a very useful tool for encrypting the photos and securing them from family and friends. IMO, the whole UI(User Interface) needs polishing so that it becomes more easy-to-use for novice users.

Warning: Even though it is good idea to secure your photos using this technique, we are not responsible if your original photos and the database gets deleted. It is always recommended to make a backup of your photos.
