How To Turn Your Windows Into A File Server Instantly With Zapr

Do you want to share large files with your friends or co-workers? Or maybe you are looking for a way to access your files while you are away from your computer(remote access)? Zapr is a great utility that does both of it and is very little known to the people. You won’t believe how easy it is to set up a file server in your Windows operating system.

This is how it works, you download the Zapr client and install it. Register for an account and they will give you a URL in your name, once you have done it, log in with your username and password in the client.

zapr client login

Now once you have logged in, you will see the screen as shown below.

Since my username is nakodari, the URL that I got is nakodari.zapr.com.

Click on the Share button(in red color), and select the files that you want to share, you can select the whole folder. In the end you can select weather to keep these files Public or Private, if you want to keep them Private you will have to enter the password for it.

Once you have selected the files, click Next. Now enter the Title and Description and click Next again. It will then show you a screen as shown below.

You can select either No or Yes, depending on what you want to do. You can also add the contacts so that they get notified everytime you share a file or you get notified everytime they share a file.

Now as you can see from the screenshot above, the folder has been added in the list. To access this folder you will have to go to nakodari.zapr.com.

sharing files

It’s that easy. You basically just have to tell your friends about your personal  page link(like mine is nakodari.zapr.com) and also tell them there are files they should check out. They will go to your link and download the files themselves without having to install the Zapr client. It currently works on Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and Vista only and there are no limitations(share as many files as you want).

Note: The host computer must keep Zapr client running in order for other people to download files from their personal link. The moment they close their client, the file sharing will finish. This is because when a user downloads a file from your URL, they are in fact downloading it from your computer.

You can also use this application to access your important files from anywhere in the world. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to share files, look no further. Enjoy!
