Shotwell is a lightweight image manager which let users organize and view images in a very convenient way. It is built keeping those users in mind who need a one-stop solution of managing & organizing image set and want a best image viewing experience. You can import image library from camera or from any other location to easily manage the images and organize them right in the application. It supports smooth image slideshow, which is seemingly an essential feature of image viewers.
The interface is quite stunning & well spruced up, managing & organizing images is a cinch. On first time usage, it will prompt you to quickly start populating its archive by importing image set from camera or other specified location. While supporting drag & drop behavior, you can easily populate its library with images from multiple locations. The Slider at the bottom-right corner will help you in resizing the thumbnails. At the lower part of the window, you can do some basic operations over images such as; Rotate images, Enhancing image quality (brighten up images), and run slideshow of image library.
The main navigation bar will allow you to view image by month/date stamp, you can easily navigate to any event’s date on which you have inserted images into archive. Double-clicking the image will open it in full view, where you can crop the image size, apply red-eye reduction effect, and adjust color intensities.
It also supports tagging feature, which lets you create a category of relevant images. Under Photos menu, you can perform some other operations over images like; flip, two-way rotation, add image into favorites, hide & rename images, and change date/time stamp.
It is one effective image management tool which offers simple features to quickly organize and manage images. Apart from featuring basic options, it lets you quickly tag images which comes useful in finding images by different categories.
It runs on all Windows based OS, we tested it on Windows 7 x86 system.
